Story of my life. The ups & downs are a pain in the ass!

Thank you everyone for reaching out. I know so many of you are wondering what the treatment was @marissafarina was posting about yesterday. Here’s the simplest way I can break it down: I have an #immunedeficiency called #CVID. I don’t have the amount of antibodies/white blood cells to fight off infection & bacteria the way a normal person does. This causes me to constantly get sick, usually with upper respiratory infections, bronchitis & pneumonia. This isn’t a disease, & no one can catch it, I was born with it. A few women in my family have different variations of #autoimmunediseases… I just got a combination of a little bit of everything. Naturally my career as a #fighter and #martialartist has been always affected by my condition. When I ended up in the hospital with appendicitis after my last #fight over a month ago, they sent in an immunologist (immune system specialist) when they saw how low my levels were in my blood work. The doctor sat me down, & told me it was time for a treatment I’ve been hesitant about my whole life. I was first told about #IVIG (an antibody drip/blood infusion) when I was 13, & after hearing all the side affects I immediately avoided it. One being once you start the treatment, you’re on it for life. This is when I decided to start eating better, living #holistic & focusing on my overall #health. That worked for a few years, but naturally as I get older, my immune system weakens. In the hospital she said without the treatment, I would be virtually guaranteeing an infection. So with the intervention of my family & wife, I caved & said ok. This picture is from my second IVIG treatment which will now be once a month in my home. It was painful, my whole body was sore & fatigued for the rest of the day. This morning however I do feel much better. I’ve been told this week I’ll feel like my best self, next week I’ll feel normal, but then the following week I’ll feel rundown like I’m getting sick & that’s when we start the process all over again. I don’t know what this means for fighting, but I will say this. I’ll never stop training & teaching.I’ll never stop pursuing my dreams. I just might have to alter them. #thebxb #brittanybrutality
