So.
It’s finally over.
Sehnsucht is officially finished.
I genuinely don’t know how to feel about writing that sentence because this fic has been with me for a year. It started as a passion project, something I was absolutely obsessed with, and somehow it followed me through some of the most chaotic months of my life.
And they were… a lot.
The apprenticeship from hell. Stress. Personal disasters. Cutting ties. Moving across the sea. Starting a new job and immediately having to figure everything out. Trying to keep writing in the middle of all that.
Needless to say, Sehnsucht has seen things.
I’m tired. Like, genuinely tired. Finishing this fic feels less like a triumphant “I have conquered the mountain!” moment and more like collapsing at the top and going “well. I made it.”
But I’m also really, really happy that Basch and Roderich got their happy ending.
They deserved it.
Also, because apparently I cannot leave quietly: I just dumped the four remaining SwissAus drabbles from my Austria Week collection that had been sitting there waiting for me to remember they existed. Consider them my final dramatic exit before I disappear into the mist.
Thank you to everyone who stayed with this story despite my extremely questionable updating schedule, my disappearing acts, and all the times real life came in swinging a chair at my head.
Now I need a little break.
Thank you for reading Sehnsucht. Thank you for loving these two idiots. Thank you for crying with me.
I’ll see you again soon.
(Probably when the RusPrus brainrot becomes unbearable. You know it will.)
