Being a natural is ALREADY hard enough some days, But if you’re anything like me and you “ooooooo” any time you hit the product isle in Target, you know how easy it is to spend almost half your rent on “new and improved, “as seen on YouTube”, “My favorite naturalista approved”; products.

Here are a few products that will help you win the winter hair battle, but also; keep money in your pocket.

Here’s how to effectively become a Naturalista on a Budget

  Shampoos & Conditioners

Natural Hate to admit that they use shampoo and some natural Nazis will “shun” you for it. Both items are actually very important when It comes to maintaining a healthy scalp and hair. Here are a few of my favorite shampoo and conditioner sets.

Organix: Depending on the need of your hair, you can always find a set under this line that will give you what you need. Two of my favorites are the Hydrating Macadamia Oil shampoo and conditioner  and Nourishing Coconut Milk Shampoo and conditioner set.  These products are regularly available for BOGO (buy one get one free) or Buy one get one half off, at Walgreens.

Aussie : Their shampoo and conditioners are amazing. Big bottles for the low. The Mega Moist shampoo and conditioner provide a great clean, awesome smell. and they compliment each other when used. Even if you just co-wash with the conditioner, it still works great.

L’Oreal: The Hair expertise: L’Oreal: Cleansing balm  is a 6 in 1 (shampoo, conditioner, leave in, etc) product that works awesome on natural hair, The two I use are for EverCurl or EverPure. The product makes washing and conditioning a breeze. They have 4 different types, and you can pick the one that best suits your needs. It isn’t as harsh as clarifying shampoos but they do clean your hair and scalp well and it conditions a the same time.

Deep Conditioners & Protein Treatments

Aussie: 3 minute miracle: in Moist, Color or Strong. These cost less than 4 dollars and work miracles. It works in a pinch; and cuts down on your wash day. You can complete your washday before you finish your shower. Who doesn’t love that?

Palmers: Palmers has a Deep Conditioning Protein Pack. It comes in a individual packets and cost about $2 or less.

Creation’s Garden: The Protein Conditioner works wonders and it’s very affordable. You can find it online at stores like TJ Maxx and Marshall’s.

Cantu: Shea Butter Deep Treatment

Leave in Conditioners

Cantu: Now, Cantu is not only affordable, it’s also one of my staples. Leave-in Conditioning Repair Cream. I have used this on myself and my son, gifted it to friends and family members. I recommend this above all else, every single time. For the price and how EASY it is to find, nothing beats this leave in. It’s amazingggggg.

Creation’s Garden: the Leave In Conditioner  is awesome, I love that it’s light weight and it does not cake up when used with other products.  it’s available for purchase online and in Marshall’s and TJ Maxx.

I love the Shape me: Custard Gelee, and the Moisture Me: Curl and Style Milk, I can use them both together, for soft but defined results or they can be used separately or with other lines. You can find this in the beauty supply store, Target and Wal-Mart.

Crème of Nature:  I love the Argan Line, I always keep a container of Butter-licious Curls on deck. It’s of a thicker consistency than some curl definers, but it definitely works well for the winter months. It’s not heavy on my hair and still leaves a fluffy but defined result.

Taliah Waajid: I found this product a few years ago. I bought it for under $7 dollars.  The Curly curl cream has a harder hold, but the definition is beautiful. You can use it after a hair butter, just  to soften the hold  a bit. It’s perfect for chunkier flat twist outs and twist outs.

Cantu: Again, who doesn’t love Cantu? I have been using the Coconut Curling cream, on myself, as well as my son; when he grows his hair out. I get compliments on the smell, the definition is amazing, and it’s easy to find and not $10 plus dollars a bottle.

Here’s a quick and easy list to either get started on your natural hair transition or just so that you can adjust your hair care regimen; if your pockets don’t allow you to keep up with the expensive products.
