Okay so I haven’t posted on here in A WHILE but I was inspired bc I rewatched an episode of Austin & Ally so I figured why tf not. Ironically one of my only other posts was a rant about WOWP, but whatever.

I have my problems with Austin Moon (which I’ll gladly get into in another post), but I also love him so much and I love Auslly to pieces. I was rewatching Season 1 Episode 5, “Bloggers & Butterflies.” Basically, this episode is about a blogger named H8er Girl posting negative stuff online about Austin. Spoilers below but the show is 14 years old so if you haven’t seen it idk what to tell u (/lh). Basically, H8er Girl turns out to be someone who is holding a grudge against Ally from years ago. She ends up forcing Ally to perform in front of a crowd despite her stage fright. In the end, Austin volunteers to sing instead of her.

Look, Austin can get on my nerves a lot, but he’s also incredibly well-written, especially for a kids show. He can be a bit self-centered, but ultimately his love for the people who matter to him is what drives him. What I found interesting about this episode was the foreshadowing. Austin explicitly tells Ally that she is more important than his career. Now, I’m not sure if the writers knew at the time that Austin would eventually do just that, but it shows how much he loves her.

What I love about Auslly is that they bring out the best in each other. They both have their faults, and they can be incredibly frustrating at times. When they’re together, though, there’s nothing they can’t do. This is a HUGE theme of the show, as we repeatedly see them challenge each other and make each other better. A good example of this is the episode in season 1 where they’re struggling to connect, and they do things together that the other likes (Ally takes Austin cloud watching, and Austin takes Ally to a scary movie festival). I’ve always seen Auslly as an opposites attract romance, specifically a sun/moon dynamic. Austin is Austin Moon, and Ally is Ally DawSON (which sounds like Sun). Personally, I think Ally is the moon and Austin is the Sun, but that’s just me.

We see this theme of challenging each other and making each other better reflected in the core friendships of the show too. The core four are all so vastly different, and yet they make each other better. As audience members, we watch as their friendships grow and develop.

Since we’re on the topic of opposites attract, I’d be remiss not to mention TrishxDez. I love their friendship and would have LOVED to see them as more. But that’s kinda off topic so…

I could talk about this for hours, but TLDR; Austin is the sweetest boyfriend ever and he loves Ally sfm. Also, Austin and Ally work so well because their differences complement each other. And finally, TrishxDez should’ve been endgame.

Austin and Ally are GREAT TEAM !
