A person?My friend and I had wanted to write a story aboutpeople with kind of X-men-like skills and in the beginning Shinjiwasn’t in the picture at all. I only came up with him when weneeded a boyfriend for one of the other characters, but over time hebecame one of the central pieces in the story. He wasn’t exactlyinspired by a certain person, but I’ve always wanted to write akind of punk character and it kind of fit the setting and I liked thecontrast between him being like “I’ll fucking fight you” at alltimes, but having a ‘passive’ skill like mind reading.
