The fingers of his right hand immediately clenched tight as his eyes scanned the last word of the note, and only upon feeling the constricting ring of pressure around his ring finger did his body relax itself from its tensed state. The very same clenched hand shot open at the direction of his coat's left breast pocket, the flat of his palm coming in contact with the cool smoothness of the silk material. His hands then traveled the expanse of his body, feeling at all the obscured pockets of his coat for the object.
Where was it? Brows furrowed even deeper as he felt every inch of his body, the pockets of his trousers for any hint, any bumps that suggested it was still here, that it wasn't lost to him.
The silver cross that he had always hung above his left breast pocket, over his lapels. The very same silver cross Mondo, his father, his World had presented to him.

Unnatural blue flames burst into life and coating his black, gloved hands, hissing and snapping as they responded to their creator's unbridled fury. And on his commands, they crawled up the creamy-grunge paper he held on the same hand, licking greedily at every surface as they set off in their mission to devour the offending object with their incandescence.
"Zashiki-Warashi...huh," his voice was the barest of a whisper, yet with each spoken word carried the animosity and abhorrence for his unknown enemy. Polished heels clacked against the marble tiled floors as he made his way to the door with only one destination in mind.
