let’s all hold hands and internally combust. look i just think this is beautiful and raw and tragic the kind of thing that makes you want to wipe away a single tear like a movie character. it’s that one new gods / barda (2024) quote where scott asks barda why she’s helping him and she says “i don’t know! […] maybe i *like* to help fools!” or something (<- ONE OF THE AUTHOR’S TAGS BTW). like okay im fine. *wanted to clarify btw i picked minor unhappy ending as in the tone of the ending is kinda like that & the foreshadowing and knowledge of auralie’s fate in barda 2024 makes it feel somewhat unhappy ykwim? i wouldn’t call it a STRAIGHTFORWARD unhappy ending bc imo it does still feel hopeful bc barda at her core is a hopeful person!!!! (also if it’s not too much bother would you mind putting this w the “minor unhappy ending” warning? no trouble at all if not though i just wanted to explain my reasoning <3333)

Barda knew that the other Female Furies killed what they loved the most all to show their allegiance for Darkseid, Granny Goodness included, she felt sympathy for them but knew that their existence is for Darkseid. It wasn't until she lost Auralie, and not even by her own hand, that her loyalty wavered. By the time she fell in love with the slave Scott Free, Barda was loathed to sacrifice anything else in the name of someone so despicable.
