Found out yesterday we have some sort of fungal growth going on in here. May be mold. May not be. I’m trying not to panic. It is due to the roofers not doing their jobs correctly. The ridge vent is letting in ZERO air and they purposely plugged a vent in this now open wall/attic space which we really needed so everything in this space is wet. We pulled out the pink fiberglass insulation last night in an attempt to at least let the air circulate a bit more.
Someone is going to come and test it on Monday.

Unexpected bonus find.
I checked the loft on our last visit. I was only looking to see how much insulation there was and to make sure there were no overt signs of any leaks. Both were fine, but I didn't expect to find this. The house was built with habitable trusses throughout, so there's around 1300 square feet of space just begging for conversion. Only question is whether I'm getting too old for more of this...
Nothing rings in the dawning of the 1970s quite like covering a perfectly beautiful, rustic hardwood floor with self-adhesive squares of fuzzy, mustard-brown shag carpet. They look so proud of their quick DIY project, completely oblivious to the absolute nightmare a future homeowner will face forty years later trying to scrape petrified, fossilized glue off those original floorboards.
