GRAHJJJJ made a mini ref sheet of all my current in use aus i have to lessen any confusion on who im yapping about when talkikg about aus also some needed colours so bad so eh
whatever go my scarab
reposting from the server but basic rundowns of the aus you can have before i manage to make proper ref posts about them
Since athenal void is a peacock i think his tail instinctively flares out when hes trying to impress/intimidate someone and he thinkgs it sososo annoying and gets angry whenever it happens
He can move it on command he just hates when it opens by itself and he thinks it looks stupid
Transportation
(outside of flying)
despite atheals being able to just fly every where some cannot!! whether it be from too small of wings or lack of stenght etc, some athenals have to rely on other ways of getting around their tall cities (also called roosts)
the most affordable option is a pair of small grappling hooks which they use to get around to unaccesable areas. most athenals have atleast one pair regardless of if they can fly or not out of convenience.
The other option for getting around are dragonflies. dragonflies are the busses of the athenal world msot being used for public transport or moving storage and large items. a typical dragon fly is about 2 floors high to fit more items and athenals. Higher up athenals may have a personal dragonfly to use
(eg voids, which is of a smaller and thinner make than regular dragon flies)
(eg, kumquats "partybug" dragonfly. a large model that consists of 3 floors iinstead of 2
why are they dragonflies? it was revealed to me in a dream (literally)

reproduction/ growth stages? (kinda)
Athenals lay around 1-2 eggs about the size of an emu egg (sizes vary slightly between species)
why so broodious- the patchessss. theres not really a set like breeding season for athenals its kinda uncertain and happens whenever. during this time both female and male Athenals will shef feathers to create a brood patch which usually grows back in after a week if no eggs are concieved
the patches get smaller with every generation as more and more decide to use incubators for their eggs ( sitting on a fragile egg for like 6 months SUCKS)
incubator examples
however some prefer to hatch eggs the old fashioned way
athenal chicks can come out either fluffy little thangs or bald little creatures depending on the mother's species either way they look kinda stupid as baby...
Sleeping/Nests
Athenals sleep on round flat beds that resemble a birds nest
either from comfort preference or just because thats how athenals in the wild used to sleep.
A typical bed is about double the size of the athenals body (they dont require much room to sleep)
Some athenals (usually chickens and what not) prefer to do without the bed all together and sleep on roosts installed in their homes.
Athenals kinda just sprawl out over the bed while sleeping especially if they have a large wings or a long tail (like void) it looks very silly
Feathers
generally feathers on Athenals are the same as typical birds feathers
most of their body is covered in tiny little feathers that are usually smoothed down to be unnoticable
Their "Hair" are still feathers!!! just kinda fucked up feathers that evolved to grow really long and flimsy till its simillar to how human hair works
An athenal's hair is incredicbly fluffly and needs to be constantly smoothed down(with or without oils) or tied up to stay out of their vison (depends on the species)
hair cuts ARE a thing but theyre more of a last resort if something has gotten stuck in the feathers otherwise theyre generally avoided (theyre uncomfortable).
feathers on their bodies are taken care of through preening
