For the past five years, photographer and documentary filmmaker Joshua Charow has been uncovering and documenting New York City’s original live/work lofts and the creatives still inhabiting these former industrial spaces.

Yto Barrada is a lot of things: artist, filmmaker, photographer, publisher, teacher, cultural activist, and, since 2006, director and co-founder of the Cinémathèque de Tanger, a vibrant art cinema and cultural center…and one of my favourite people-watching cafés.

A non-profit cultural organization which sits at the intersection of arts and urbanism, and that aims to expand understanding of this shape-shifting city through an innovative array of creative and cultural initiatives, including podcasts, public workshops, art residencies, and publications.

Renovating the heritage of Portuguese soft-rush basketry in the small village where this craft has been done for over 500 years. They welcome visits to the atelier where you can observe the crafting process firsthand, make your own piece, shop, even stay on the property.

In a refurbished 80 year old house located at the foot of Mount Fuji...a dedicated studio, artist-in-residence program and FabCafe Fuji which has additional rooms above.
