Bionicle inspired Red Star Astrolabe is something I wanted to make for 1 year probably? I finally pushed myself to sit down and start drafting it. This is the result.

I used to have an astrolabe pendant years back and it's still my most favorite pendant I've ever had. Plus we have an amazing Astronomical Clock in Prague. Aaaand Matoran were checking Red Star through a telescope in Mata Nui Online Game, so I just told myself "let's try and merge it together"?

Astrolabe (ca. 1375) Produced in Picardy during the late 14th century, this brass astrolabe functioned as a precise astronomical computer and navigational aid. The instrument is marked with detailed engravings that allow users to calculate time and track stellar positions by measuring the altitude of celestial bodies. Warframe (2025)

Warframe has been running for over a decade now, but this is specifically from the "The Old Peace" release

It is commonly known as the "ninjas-in-space" game, but I have always been fond of its extremely weird and very busy art style. This particular part of the trailer caught my attention. It shows a moving ceiling with a clear astronomy-based design

Very beautiful, but also, very clearly inspired by astrolabes (which appears to be a common source of inspiration). You can compare it to this 1558 astrolabe (in Latin)

At some point I think this series should just be "astrolabe inspired design"
