hi! so vedic astrology does have a really specific framework for this actually, and the main things to look at are:

the 4th house rules formal education broadly, so the sign on the 4th house cusp and any planets sitting in it give you a flavor of what kind of learning environment and subject matter feels most natural to you.

the 5th house is where creative intelligence and subjects you're genuinely gifted in live, so planets in the 5th and the condition of its lord are hugely informative for what you're naturally drawn to and good at academically.

the 9th house rules higher education specifically, philosophy, and the broader pursuit of knowledge, so this one is probably the most directly relevant to university majors. whatever sign and planets are here, and the condition of the 9th house lord, tell you a lot about what direction your higher learning is meant to go.

the 2nd house also matters because it rules speech and the skills you develop to sustain yourself, so it ties into what you're building practically through education.

beyond houses, the planets themselves carry subject associations in jyotish: Mercury rules communication, mathematics, commerce, and writing. Jupiter rules law, philosophy, teaching, and anything wisdom-based. Venus rules arts, design, and anything beauty or harmony related. Mars rules engineering, medicine, military, and anything requiring precision and action. Saturn rules structure, administration, and fields that require long-term discipline. Rahu (north node) often pulls you toward unusual or foreign fields that feel almost fated.

the condition of the atmakaraka (the planet with the highest degree in your chart) also gives a strong indication of your soul's direction, which tends to manifest through your chosen field of study and work.

Moon in Scorpio in the 8th house is genuinely one of the most intense emotional placements you can have, and I say that with full respect and zero sugarcoating. Scorpio is already the sign that feels everything at a depth most people don't even know exists, and the 8th house is the house that rules transformation, death and rebirth, deep intimacy, shared resources, and everything that lives beneath the surface of ordinary life, so therefore having your Moon there means your emotional body is operating in that territory full time, ALL the time.

what that actually looks like in practice is that you feel things in a way that goes all the way to the floor, like there's no shallow end for you emotionally, every experience of love or loss or connection registers at a level that most people only hit during the most extreme moments of their lives. you're probably someone who has known real grief, real transformation, real intensity from relatively early on, and rather than making you harder it's made you incredibly perceptive about what's actually happening underneath the surface of situations and people. the flip side is that emotional regulation can be genuinely challenging because when you feel something it's never small and never simple, and you probably experience things like jealousy, obsession, or grief more viscerally than other people do, because your emotional range is just working on a completely different scale.

the gift, and it is a real one, is that you're capable of a depth of intimacy and understanding that most people never access. you see through people in a way that's almost uncomfortable sometimes. you change through pain instead of just surviving it, and when you love someone, it's total and complete.

Moon in the 1st house is different from every other Moon placement because the emotional body and the physical presence are literally the same thing, there’s no separation between how she feels internally and what other people pick up from her, which means her moods are visible whether she wants them to be or not, her face gives her away, the energy she walks in with changes the room, and she can’t really fake being okay in the way that say a 12th house Moon can disappear into herself or a 3rd house Moon can just talk around it. the 1st house Moon wears everything.

what that also means is that her sense of self and her emotional state are deeply intertwined, so when she’s going through something it doesn’t stay contained to one area of life, it bleeds into her identity and how she’s moving through the world entirely, and when she’s doing well that same quality makes her magnetic and warm and deeply comforting to be around in a way that’s hard to explain.

as for the Moon in hard aspects to Venus and Lilith in a woman’s chart, that’s a genuinely layered thing because all three of those placements relate to femininity, desire, and self-worth but from very different angles, and when they’re in tension with each other the woman is often navigating a complicated internal conversation about what she wants versus what she feels she’s allowed to want, or between how she loves and how she values herself, or between the version of her femininity that’s socially acceptable and the part that isn’t.
