Gently the haven of sleep slowly evaporates, the conscious mind opens the floodgates of thoughts and images and senses awaken.

The hard cold surface on which her body is stretched upon is uncomfortable and unforgiving.

Her vision is blurred by red material covering  her face, her hands try to remove the fabric, something or someone is stopping her. Panic over takes, as she thrashes her arms and legs to free herself of this invisible hold. 

Slowly the chains of red silk sheets fall, her eyes seem to be in a state of perpetual mist, she can not focus. Closing them and opening them hoping this will

 help her vision adapt. 

Roses she smells, roses  the fragrance is sweet.

Candles, they are everywhere, flickering their shadows on the walls.

"Where am I?" she panics.

he's heard a lot of singers, obviously bc he's had to record so many of them

but you?? your voice?? a literal siren for him–but in a good way!

and then you looked out of the booth to see him just staring at you and your throat went dry

your voice cracked, you've never felt more embarrassed in your life

you: ah! oh my God I'm so sorry, that was horrendous

myungjun's laughing at you, what a nice duet partner

but jin just smiles bc you're whining and hiding your face in your hands

you were so cute??

jinwoo: it's okay y/n, you were doing really good. let's try that again, okay?

he was so sweet about it, ugh you were blushing

you end up recording again, and this time you made the smart decision to close your eyes and just try and focus on the lyrics

and shit, if jinjin wasn’t already a bit interested in you before, he definitely was now

because the way you looked completely immersed in the song and lyrics

Eunwoo found Bin in their room, pacing back and forth like an animal first time in a cage. He wouldn’t want to describe his roommate in that manner but that’s how he sees him.

“What should I do?” Bin kept murmuring but the words won’t get to Eunwoo.

“Binnie?” he called. The man’s shoulder jolted, he didn’t even notice that Eunwoo already arrived.

“Huh?” Bin responded seconds later, he’s obviously preoccupied with whatever bothering him.

“Are you okay? Something wrong with classes?” Eunwoo asked. He already knew that Bin will never tell anything to him, but he kept asking, every single time.

“Nothing, I’ll cook dinner” just how Eunwoo predicted.

Moon Bin exited their room. Bin hardly volunteered in cooking so Eunwoo assumes that it’s the first excuse that went on his mind.

He sighed and sat on his bed, he’ve only known Bin for six months, but he already got his pattern. They’re studying at the same university and end up sharing an apartment so they can cut off each other’s expenses.

Eunwoo didn’t plan to live with someone (especially when there’s only one bedroom available and your roommate is inhumanly attractive). He has a huge crush on his roommate but he swore to himself that he’ll keep it to himself.

But who wouldn’t like someone as Bin? He’s the kindest guy he ever met, compassionate to everything that he does and did Eunwoo already mentioned that Bin is inhumanly attractive? Because yes, he really is.

The thing is, Bin is obviously hiding something from him. It always happen once a month, he’ll be inattentive and moody. Bin yelled at him the first month and he almost cried in front of him. Eunwoo simply asked a question!

Bin didn’t go home that day and came back the next day and apologized profusely to him.

It always happen without fail. His attitude would suddenly change, he’ll be gone for a night then comes back the next day as if nothing happened. He tried asking him but it would always be a change of topic until Eunwoo eventually got used to it. He’s still dying to know the reason behind Bin’s actions but Eunwoo won’t step out of his boundaries, after all, they’re just roommates.

Eunwoo came out after changing clothes, he saw Bin still busy cooking. He went inside the kitchen and helped him set the table.

“What the?!” Bin exclaimed. The plate slipped on Eunwoo’s hand and a loud crash is heard in the kitchen.

“Sorry, I’ll clean it” Bin’s mood change might be contagious because Eunwoo is not on his right mind too.

He mindlessly picked up the shards from the shattered plate. “Ah!” His finger jerked up, letting go of the piece of shard that cut his finger.

“Damn” Bin cursed under his breath. Why would Eunwoo do this to him, why now?

He pulled Eunwoo up and lead him in the living room. “Sit there and for the goodness of the world, don’t do anything stupid” Bin scolded.

Eunwoo can’t help but burrow his head. Bin is not usually like this. He kept reminding himself.

Bin came back with a first aid kit. He took Eunwoo’s bleeding finger and rubbed the cotton with disinfectant to clean his wound.

Eunwoo flinched and bit his lower lip in pain, Bin sighed and gently brought Eunwoo’s wounded finger near his lips and blew air in the wounded area. Finally, Bin picked up a band-aid and applied it to Eunwoo’s finger.

“Stay here, I’ll call you when the food is ready” Bin simply said and left without notice. Eunwoo is most thankful that Bin left because he can feel his face and ears heating up!

Bin did that! He’s screaming inside.

They ate in silence after the little incident, “Right, I forgot to mention that I won’t be here tomorrow. My mother wanted me to go home this weekend, I’ll be back Sunday night”

Bin’s mood lit up as he heard Eunwoo’s words. “Really?” Bin asked. Eunwoo didn’t know why he’s being hurt with Bin’s sudden enthusiasm.

“Yeah, I’ll leave tomorrow morning” Eunwoo added impassively.

Bin breathed in relief. Eunwoo saved him more than he can know.

He’s lucky to find a roommate that can endure his excessive mood change. He’s trying hard to control himself during the forthcoming of the full moon where his wolf couldn’t contain its thrill, making his senses all sensitive.

Bin hates it when he ends up pouring all of his frustration to Eunwoo. He remembered Eunwoo’s expression when he accidentally yelled at him months ago. He doesn’t want that to happen again.

He’s panicking earlier because the forest where he stays during the full moon is now claimed to be private property by some rich person and now, he has nowhere to go.

He’s been living like this for the past five years. They all thought that he’s human, they thought that he didn’t take after his mother who died to give birth to a hybrid like him. Bin and his father managed to keep his secret but he’s on his own now that he’s away to study.

He doesn’t know where he would go for the next months but at least, he got a month spared with Eunwoo leaving their apartment. Hopefully, he wouldn’t shred anything into pieces in their house tomorrow night.

Eunwoo woke up early for his trip, Bin is still sleeping on his bed like the usual. He wanted to wake him up and tell him that he’s leaving but Bin looked so happy when he heard that he’s leaving so might as well leave without notice.

He knows that he’s being petty for being annoyed but he can’t help it. He’s hurt and Bin wouldn’t care less if he leaves anyway.

Bin woke up as he heard Eunwoo moving around. “You’re already leaving?” Bin asked, rubbing his sleep off.

Eunwoo is surprised that he managed to wake Bin up since he sleeps like a log. Did he make so much noise because he’s annoyed?

“Yes” Eunwoo answered with a straight face, he’s still sulky.

“Be careful on your way and… I didn’t get to say thank you last night so, thank you” Bin’s words are casually spoken, but it made Eunwoo’s heart crazy.

“W-wait, you’re thanking me? For what?” Eunwoo is curious, what did he do last night for Bin to thank him?

“Just…thank you for keeping up with me” Bin answered, not making any eye contact.

“Okay, I’ll leave now” Eunwoo quickly ended the conversation. He’s officially confused because of Bin.

Night came and Bin started to become more and more anxious. The transition hurts like hell, but he needs to be quiet as possible or else the neighbors would report and he’ll be exposed within seconds.

It’s his second time to transform with people around him. The first time is when his wolf awakened and then now. He always chooses to be left alone in the woods during full moon where he would be free to be himself.

Yes, he hates that he has to keep secrets. Bin hates the fact that people would be scared when they found out that he’s not human.

His wolf is part of himself, he’s different but not a monster.

Moon Bin gasped when he felt the pain coursing to every vein in his body.

It’s starting.

He wanted to scream, the first minutes are the most painful but he as to endure it…

He couldn’t help but heave a deep growl, his senses are all heightened and the loud noises and different scents are making his reasoning fuzzy.

Moments later and his eyes are already changed. He can also feel his fangs poking in his lips, his claws digging through the bed sheet.

He knew it, he’s nearing his transition as the full moon is also on the verge of its peak. He’s ready to give in, not until he caught a familiar scent approaching the place.

“Eunwoo!” He exclaimed but it was too late to hide.

Eunwoo opened their apartment, he couldn’t believe his mother messed up with the dates. He ended up going home because his parents and brother are on vacation and would arrive on Monday.

The lights in the living room are all dead so maybe Bin is already sleeping…

He quickly trashed the idea when he saw that the lights are still open in their room. Eunwoo casually opened the door and entered.

“Binnie?!” Eunwoo is surprised by what he saw.

“Go away!” Bin blurted out. He’s in the verge of his transition and his wolf is screaming to pounce at Eunwoo as soon as he stepped in the room.

Eunwoo is frozen in his position.

The first thing that he noticed is Bin’s hair, It’s silver, almost white. Eunwoo’s gaze went to Bin’s eyes, his eyes are glowing blue.

Bin snarled and that’s when It finally sinked in to Eunwoo. His roommate is not human.

“Is this what you’ve been hiding from me?“Yt Eunwoo took a step forward.

Bin is using all his willpower to stop the transition and Eunwoo nearing him is not helpful at all.

Eunwoo took another step and Bin’s thread of control finally snapped. He pushed Eunwoo in the bed and towered over him. Bin snarled and Eunwoo can only close his eyes.

He doesn’t know why he took those steps forward, he doesn’t know why he kept going when Bin clearly told him to go.

He expected to get killed but no pain followed, the weight from Bin was slowly removed.

He opened his eyes and saw a white wolf standing at the side of the bed. It’s his first time seeing a wolf but Eunwoo’s sure that it’s the most beautiful wolf he would ever see.

Eunwoo got out from the bed and knelt in front of Bin’s wolf form to level him.

“You’re beautiful” Eunwoo mumbled. He should be scared, he should be running away but he know he doesn’t have the reason to.

Eunwoo wouldn’t utter a word after that, he gently run his hands in Bin’s thick fur and Bin simply let him.

He never felt so eased in his current form, no, he never felt this comfortable in his whole life.

They just stayed in that position without saying any words.

Eunwoo slowly felt his eyes giving up. Bin felt it and cuddled him, permitting Eunwoo to lean on him like a soft pillow.

You gave out a sigh as you stretched your limbs, feeling the tension leaving your body before snuggling backwards into the warm chest of your dog hybrid, Jin Jin. His arms wrapping around your waist tightly his bushy brown and white tail thumped lightly against your calf. You couldn’t help the smirk that formed when you felt the soft kisses trailing along your neck. “Baby,” JinJin whined, nuzzling further into your neck, “Distract me from the storm.” Another low pitched whine fell from his lips as another crash of thunder shook the house.

Turning in his arms, your hands curled into the front of his shirt. Gently bringing your lips together, his tail smacking the couch faster as his hand curled in your hair. Pulling you closer pouring all his love into the kiss.

The storm became background noise as the two of you laid in each others arms. JinJin moved to rest his head against your chest, leaning over the coffee table to grab the tv remote. His warm figure curled around you, whining for you to play with his hair. You began watching the movie together running your hands through his soft hair, stopping to give his ears a scratch every now and then.

The lightning flashed outside illuminating the entire sky, JinJin's head perked up eyes focusing on the rose bushes in the yard. His ears pointed straight up listening to all the subtle sounds his sensitive ears could pick up. Just then another bolt of lightning filled the yard with sharp light. This time Jinjin was able to pick up the movement in the bushes.

Bolting up from the couch Jinjin darted out into the downpour rain soaking into his clothes as he ran to the edge of the property.

JinJin crouched down peering through the bushes, there he found the shaking form of what appeared to be a rabbit hybrid. The creatures ears fallen over their face, knees pulled up to their chest. The sandy brown color of his features lost behind mud and blood.

JinJin turned back towards the house screaming as loud as his lung could, “Y/N! Quick! There’s a hybrid out here!” His voice carried over the storm and into the warm safety of your home. The words sent a chill down your spine as you forced yourself off the couch. Pulling a jacket from its hook by the patio, feet sinking into the wet grass as you threw the coat over your shoulders.

“You really shouldn’t be doing this.”

“Correction, we shouldn’t be doing this.” Sanha doesn’t need to turn around to know Moonbin is rolling his eyes at his cheeky correction. “After all,” the young boy continues with a playful flex of his tail, “you didn’t have to come with me.”

“And listen to Eunwoo’s hours long lecture afterwards? No thank-you, that will be a pain we both bear when we get back.” Moonbin glides beside him silently, sleek tail flecked with electric blue flecks that shimmer even in the darkness of the water.

“That’s if we get caught though,” Sanha presses, ignoring the way Moonbin shakes his head. “Come on, we made sure our alibi was perfect.”

“Eunwoo isn’t stupid though, he’s bound to know we’re up to something.”

“True,” Sanha admits and when he turns towards Moonbin, his hair flutters weightlessly around his face like a sunbeam, highlighting the excitement and endless energy the younger Siren always seems to have in spades. “But that’s what makes it fun, right?”

And then he turns and speeds up, leaving the older boy to sigh and shake his head, brushing dark hair away from his face before he follows with a low mutter of “you’re gonna get us killed one day” that he’s certain Sanha doesn’t hear.

The water gets warmer the closer they get to land and it’s only once he can clearly see white sand and scatterings of shells that Sanha stops, tail thrashing in thinly veiled excitement as he turns towards Moonbin.

“This is as close as we get,” Moonbin says sternly and Sanha nods before he takes a deep breath and bolts for the surface. Seawater makes his hair cling to his face and he pushes it back, eyes wide as the breath leaves his lungs at the view before him. A broad expanse of white sand gleams in the moonlight, dense line of trees beyond it -- but that isn’t what has him nearly vibrating with excitement.

It’s the city beyond it. It’s the sprawling mess of buildings he can see with dark windows and carefully locked doors, the cobblestone streets with carts full of all sorts of things that he’d love to investigate, food he’d love to try -- and it’d be so easy too, to sneak up to the docks where enormous trade ships dock every day, to sneak into that pretty little seaside town and finally, finally get a chance to --

“Sanha!” His name is sharp in Moonbin’s mouth and he yelps as he’s yanked backwards roughly, water sloshing around his shoulders. “Are you crazy? I told you we’re not getting any closer than this and you’re just--”

“Relax,” Sanha says, tugging his arm out of Moonbin’s grip. “I’m just...watching.”

Moonbin shakes his head. “What’s your fascination with them about? You know they’re nothing but trouble, especially when they murder us by the hundreds.” His voice is grim, and it sends fear spilling into Sanha’s gut, low and cold.

“I know--”

“They’re ruthless,” Moonbin continues, “they hunt us until we have nowhere to hide, and then they load that...thing and spear us. Or if we’re lucky, they catch us in nets and who knows what they do to them -- do you want to see that, Sanha? See pieces of our people, paraded by them as jewelry? Proud of their massacre?”

Sanha wilts, folding in on himself with dropped shoulders, tail sinking to flick back and forth listlessly. “No,” he mumbles at last, and chafes at his arms. “I don’t...I don’t want to see that.”

Moonbin’s expression softens, sympathetic as he loops his arm around Sanha’s shoulder and pulls him closer. “I get it, their towns are pretty and...I can’t blame you for being curious. But remember what they do to us. They’re liars and thieves, Sanha. Murderers.”

“You sound like Eunwoo,” Sanha mumbles and that gets a small laugh from Moonbin.

“We’ve both heard his lectures enough times to know it by heart, haven’t we?” Sanha nods and allows Moonbin to guide him away, towards deeper waters. Towards safety. And though Moonbin’s warning rings in his ears, though he knows it’s the truth, he still looks backwards at the shimmering, rippling surface and what lays beyond.
