the world is getting too blurry for me to see
I got my vision tested today. I now have to wear glasses. #my nearsighted astigmatism
Recently, we've been working on unpacking our college stuff, even though our last semester of undergrad is seven weeks away. There's a lot of stuff that we've packed over the years that I'm quickly realizing we don't need or use, so we're sorting through it and figuring out what we need and what we can keep at home. Hoping it'll make packing up easier in December since we won't be staying for the spring semester.
I also need to go through and test all the techy stuff that's in there, because I don't trust the dehumidifier that our mom uses, and I'm worried about damage. So far I've found our USB adapter, which we use since our green keyboard-mouse set stopped working. This allows us to plug in our keyboard and a drawing tablet at the same time, or a bunch of controllers. It plugs in via USB-A, but I'm hoping to get one that uses USB-C since we plan on getting our hands on a Daylight computer for grad school. I think it'll be a fun thing to have and a suitable replacement for the Kindle we have now (e-ink) and the Kindle we had as a kid (Fire HD).
I know it sounds counterintuitive, given that I just wrote a couple posts talking about going analog, but for me, I see it as an accessibility point. We have light sensitivity and possible astigmatism, likely due to our autism. We literally can't leave the house dawn to dusk without polarizing lenses, because we're constantly squinting against the sun, and it takes too long for our eyes to adjust (our eyes are hazel). All of our devices are in light mode (don't judge or you're ableist) because prolonged use of dark mode makes the letters start to bleed and glare. Being in college, we're required to look at screens for a prolonged period of time, which really fucking sucks. We could (hypothetically) cut videogames out of our life, and still have three hours of screen time per day from checking Canvas, reading e-texts that we couldn't buy on Kindle, watching videos for class, checking email, etc etc. It's really bad and it's making me desperate to find something else. So I'm hoping to replace a few things with e-ink or similar things. Will still keep our gaming laptop for the time being, though.
throwback to the time where someone took my glasses and ran off saying "I didn't need them". HOE YOU ARE IN THE 3RD GRADE YOU ARE NOT AN OPTOMETRIST
