Not weird to ask at all! I would say start out small and see what you're comfortable with too. Degrading is all about showing them how much you want them and getting them in the headspace of focusing on pleasure or pleasing no matter how pathetic it may seem from an outsiders' perspective.
Maybe try little comments or actions outside of sex to get them in the mindset, like randomly grabbing their ass, pinching their nipples, stroking their hair then giving it a small yank, anything that shows your dominance and reminds them that they are your plaything.
You could try phrases like:

"God, you're such a slut for me"
"You'll do anything to please me, won't you?"
