Part 1 Hey, I'm currently receiving treatment for a variety of mental illnesses and i just wanted to know if the therapist is obligated like to tell my parents everything I've said or i can ask her please not to? And if the issue involves something bad that might have been illegal idk (i did nothing, it was done to me), if they can force me to take legal actions or they are forced to tell my parents for them to take legal actions?
Generally breaking confidently is limited to: serious harm to self (suicidality OR grievous bodily harm), danger to others and abuse for children, dependent adults, and elders (65+). But if you are minor and your parents are the consenting party - I would double check with your therapist about what exceptions to confidentiality are. If nothing else, y’all can make a plan.
