so it turns out my new Barony has a discord server and they've all been lovely to listen to there. yesterday I was learning about making mead (even though I'm allergic to alcohol) and it was fascinating. and another gentleman (based on name and icon) offered a different style of rapier fighting so I might be able to fight again (my knees say Italian rapier bad, they don't wanna bend that much)! and then there's like near weekly ranged weapons! about the only thing i haven't heard about is scribal, but I can row that canoe myself ;)

I feel like I should mention that me and my brother owe our existences to the SCA. Our parents met in the SCA back in '88, and my dad took an interest in my mother immediately. He made the questionable albeit effective decision to woo her with puns. They got into a pun war about trees at a Yule dinner. My father won, and my mother in a last ditch effort to save face said, "I bet you can't make a pun about magnolias." Anyways, he thought on it for a while and said, "I've got it. What do you get when you electrify a butter knife?" The answer was "electromagnoleo." My parents started dating after that and married a few years later.

I just got my first authorization!! Just in time for Pennsic! AND I'll be able to fight since I'll be staying until the 6th :DDD

Hello! Another bit of an interkingdom anthropology question: what's largesse culture like in Atlantia? in An Tir, I'm used to our crowns and coronets collecting general items to have in reserve to be given out as needed and updating the artisans of the populace on what would be nice/what they have in supply, and I thought making something might be a nice way to introduce myself upon my move, but I haven't found any information of the kind from groups in Atlantia. Do you make items for the coffers? If not, can you think of any other way an aspiring artisan might make an entrance?

Our barony of Aarnimetsä here in Drachenwald has Guild of the Golden Dove (not 100% on the translation – it's "Kultaisen kyyhkyn ritaikunta" in Finnish). It's people who basically volunteer to be emotional support scadians 😄 Their Thing is helping newcomers: teaching SCA basics, showing newcomers around and maybe introducing them, sometimes sitting beside a first-timer at court and explaining what's going on...

Had a talk with the sargentry people and im wondering if theres an online quiz somewhere like "which SCA path should you take" mostly because i like structure but also i like personality quizes.

Almost a year ago I sent an ask about being an attendant/retainer for the (at the time) King, I'm proud to say that I'm now a baronal attendant!
