Honestly I just keep forgetting to add those kinds of tags whenever I write new prompts, as well as various other tags I had at one point to try and help keep the blog organized so that it'd be easier for people to search through.

Ice and Mav, after the first movie, become really close, and eventually Ice thinks they're dating and Mav thinks they're just good friends bc Goose and him were close and affectionate, but Mav wants more w Ice

Post-Mission, After Ice and Mav shake hands, Mav just thinks he’s gained a new friend/ally. Meanwhile, Ice thinks he is completely and totally in love. 

From then on, whenever they’re at the mess hall, Ice always sits with Mav. If they’re stateside, Ice makes tons of plans with Mav, like watch sports, going to the bar, going the beach, playing volleyball, reading flight material etc. Mav thinks Ice has just become his new bestfriend, and it’s nice to not be alone after losing Goose and Charlotte (who’d decided to be friends with after they stopped dating)

In Ice’s mind, he’s taken Mav on several dates and it seems like Mav reciprocates his advances, so they’re dating. He started with small touches to Mav’s hands and then started resting his hand on Mav’s lower back. He pays when they go out to dinner. He swings his arm around the back of Mav when they sit next to each other on the couch. He draped his jacket over Mav’s shoulders. In Mav’s mind, this is all perfectly in line with the amount of touching and care that Goose gave him, so Ice was just another excellent friend that Mav was lucky to have in his life. 

He wants to make their relationship to be more physical, but he knows that Mav needs sometime. On one of their dates at a bar, Mav (with a few drinks in him) said how in his next relationship, he wants to the take the physical aspect slowly, just so he can really know the person; Ice was thankful for the head’s up and it didn’t deter him. 

Mav on the other wasn’t sure how to deal with the fact that he was slowly but surely falling in love with his very straight, new bestfriend. And I mean, honestly, Mav never stood a chance. Ice was tall, alarmingly handsome, very confident and had a kind heart with a level head. He was the perfect man to be honest. But Mav can’t ruin this new friendship, he had been feeling so alone since Goose’s death and he couldn’t go back to that feeling. 

But then Charlotte AND Carole said some of those “outings” as “friends” sounded a lot like dates. And that some the touching that was occurring was way more…romantic with Mav then Goose had ever been. And that maybe Mav should consider that Ice wasn’t as “straight” as Mav thought. 

And Mav really hopes so, because he’s kind of wanted kiss Kazansky since he saw him smirking behind his aviator sunglasses at the bar. 

Ice is painfully sexually frustrated, but also the best boyfriend. He won’t pressure Mav at all and believes the ball to be entirely in Mav’s court. So while after a day playing football on the beach, Ice is taking painfully cold showers and is especially familiar with his right hand. 

Of course, eventually, Carole tells Mav to be brave and just ask Ice because, at this point, it was going to drive Maverick and her crazy if they didn’t find out where Ice’s head was. So Maverick thinks he’s starting with a simple question when he asks Ice “Are you dating anyone?”.

And Ice looks at him like he’s grown a third head and says “uh….I thought I was dating you?”
