you know something is a little skewed if warrior cats handles the morality of dealing with criminals better than your average xenofiction webcomic, which seem to carry the notion of how the death penalty is actually fine if they ‘deserve it’. the topic might be a little too heavy to get into here and i’m not saying the characters need to constantly have a philosophical debate on how to punish their criminals, but i wish it was given more brevity than just “eh they deserved it. fuck em. moving on”.
I think some authors don't see the difference between killing someone in self defense during a moment of high tension and an execution done in cold blood. There's a reason why (in theory) the law doesn't treat justifiable homicide the same way as a premeditated murder. They aren't the same crime, even if the result is the same.
From what I've read from The Exiled, I find it really fucked up to see the protagonist be the only one feeling regret for killing her own mother, while her gf just go "I would have done that for you!!" while the other gf just nods. Only for the conversation to derail into relationship talk and "we'll make cute stuff togetherrr" like OMG, Fish, get out of there, the blue gf specifically is horrifying in how little she cares about killing others.
