‘You are going to stay here until I figure out what the hell just happened, got it? You are going to sit the fuck down and I am going to think.’

Phoebe couldn't fight back the amused laugh that escaped her. She hid her face in her hands, forcing herself to remember that Julien had been a seven foot tall wolf mere minutes ago, and provoking her into transforming again would most likely lead to more than just a flick of her tail under her chin.

‘What’s so funny?’ Julien spat.

‘You're just insane!’ Phoebe exclaimed. ‘My God, you are insane.’

Julien snarled. ‘Sit down somewhere I can see you and let me think.’

‘I got it, dude,’ Phoebe said.

‘Good. Now go.’

Phoebe sucked her inner cheek between her teeth and chewed down. She walked past Julien towards the church and found a mossy tree stump to perch on. With an exaggerated flair, Phoebe crossed her legs and placed two hands on one knee. She looked at Julien, overly fixed, and smiled sweetly. Julien rolled her eyes and turned away, a hand in her hair, the other on her hip.

‘So,’ Phoebe said after a good five minutes of Julien's pacing and mumbling, ‘you guys live in a nice place.’

‘No talking,’ Julien grunted.

‘Oh, so you can hold me captive but we can't talk?’ Phoebe asked.

‘Correct.’

‘Awesome,’ Phoebe said with a tight grin. She drummed on her thighs and clicked her tongue. ‘Got any more Julien rules I should know about? No eye contact? No touching? No loitering? No swimming?’

‘No talking. I don't want you to talk.’

‘Ohhh, yeah, got it. Nooo talking.’

Phoebe folded her arms under her stomach and leaned forwards. The morning was reaching its peak and she wondered if the other wolves knew they were out here. It occurred to her that she'd never tried to use her new wolf senses outside. So, Phoebe tried the sniffy, tongue-y thing Lucy had shown her. She planted her feet flat on the ground too, trying to see if she could feel movement from the campsite. But Phoebe couldn't feel anything, save for a cold tongue and a hunger pang in her gut. Phoebe sighed softly, making a whistling sound through her pursed lips. The noise entertained her understimulated mind, so she continued.

‘You’re serious?’ Julien said. She was standing, as straight as a pin, with a look of pure disbelief scrunched on her face.

‘Hmm?’ Phoebe said, mid whistle.

‘Quit that.’

‘Mmm?’ Phoebe said.

‘I said cut it out.’

‘I’m sorry, I thought we weren’t supposed to talk. I was just whistling.’

‘You’re not supposed to talk. Or whistle or hum or anything, for that matter.’

‘Ahh, so Julien rules only apply to me? That’s gonna be confusing. You shouldn’t have named them that.’

‘Are you always this annoying?’
