_en Woei X Asics – does that ring a bell? It better does. Anyone who is at least remotely interested in Asics sneakers knows very well that Woei is behind the Cervidae Gel Lyte III, one of the most iconic collaborations in the history of this Japanese footwear manufacturer. Ever since designing this grail, this Rotterdam-based store named after its owner has been rather quiet. However, the shop is now celebrating its 10th anniversary and they are back in full as they broughth us the second collab on the Asics Gel Lyte III. Will this release be as historical in time as its older sibling?
When designing the sneaker, Woei Tjin took the concept back to the roots. Using vintage nylon (similar to that on vintage tracksuits) as the main motive of the upper, he tried to resemble the look and comfort of sneakers from back in the days. In addition to the nylon, the sneaker’s upper is mainly built of suede supported by mesh details. Regarding colours, various hues of grey are contrasted with apricot, producing an amazing and unique colorway. I really appreciate (and so do all Asics die-hard fans, I’m sure of that) the Woei logo on the tongue and the back of the shoe. Let’s face it, we’ve been waiting for a Woei logo on the heel of a GL3 for 5 years!
When the info about these first leaked, I knew that I would be loving them whatever they would look like, because we all waited for another Woei X Asics collaboration for so long. After the official pictures were released, I was just happy that Woei did not lose the magic touch they had back in the day. To conclude my point, the latest Asics Gel Lyte III X Woei collab is just a damn banger and I cannot wait to lace it up (of course there is a pair waiting for me at home). _cz Woei X Asics – zní vám to povědomě? Mělo by. Každý, kdo se alespoň trochu zajímá o tenisky Asics, ví velmi dobře, že Woei je v pozadí Cervidae Gel Lyte III, jedné z nejvíc ikonických kolaborací v historii tohoto japonského výrobce obuvi. Od doby, kdy navrhli tenhle grail, se parta kolem tohohle rotterdamského obchodu pojmenovaného po svém majiteli stáhla trochu do pozadí. Teď ovšem slaví své 10. výročí, jsou zpátky v plné síle a přinesli nám druhou kolaboraci na Asics Gel Lyte III. Dostane tenhle release časem stejně legendární status jako jeho starší sourozenec?
Když tuto tenisku navrhoval, vydal se Woei Tjin zpátky ke kořenům. Použitím vintage nylonu, který připomíná vintage bundy, se snažil napodobit vzhled a komfort tenisek z dřívějších časů. Kromě nylonu se na vršku tenisky objevuje především semiš doplněný o detaily ze síťoviny. Co se barev týče, různé odstíny šedé fungují jako skvělý kontrast s broskvovou růžovou, což dohromady dává nádhernou a unikátní colorway. Osobně se mi strašně líbí (a jsem si jistý, že I všem Asics die-hard fanouškům) Woei logo na jazyku a na patě boty. Přiznejme si to, na Woei logo na patě GL3 jsme čekali 5 let!
Když poprvé leaknuly informace o těchto teniskách, věděl jsem, že je budu milovat i kdyby vypadaly jakkoliv, protože jsme si všichni říkali o další Woei X Asics kolaboraci opravdu dlouho. Poté, co vyšly oficiální fotky, jsem byl hrozně rád, že Woei pořád neztratil ten kouzelný dotek, který kdysi míval. Abych to shrnul, poslední Asics Gel Lyte III X Woei kolaborace byla naprostá bomba a nemůžu se dočkat, až si obuju svůj pár (samozřejmě už na mě doma čeká). Sáhli jste po nich taky?
