Over the past year we planted 150 milkweed plants in the Children’s Garden meadow! This area includes our Monarch Waystation and is dedicated to attracting butterflies, monarchs in particular. What a perfect place to look for monarch butterflies (and caterpillars)! Evenin’ to this gorgeous milkweed. Asclepias species (milkweeds) produce some of the most complex flowers in the plant kingdom, comparable to orchids in complexity. The name milkweed comes from their production of latex that oozes from their damaged cells.
