The movement and energy of writing the Arabic language, the sounds, in the various short and long brushstrokes, are all inspirations that combine in creating these paintings. As ceramicists we are tasked with harmonizing multiple elements, both physical and metaphysical. Of the physical- form, surface, and function are of primary concern. All of the principles and elements of three-dimensional design apply to creation and analysis of the work. Like any sculptural form, the elements and principles are the language we use to discuss the artwork, how it succeeds formally, and why. I started today with heavy heart, deep in a trance
Two steps backslid when I thought we could advance
Now I can’t hear your secrets
& I can't reach you through the glass
of your see-through house built way way back in the past.
Who do you see when you look at me?
Frail frame, few screws came loose maybe
Black man boy child trying desperately
To be relief for his people wherever they be.
We still tryna survive but money's made off we
I been tired of living in inequality
Still we vibing on these islands in the endless sea
While our brothers stateside screaming "JUSTICE! PEACE!"

I mourned the loss of
your presence prematurely.
Light had abandoned me
before your departure.
There was darkness on the runway.
I wanted to hold you close but
the hand that fed me
knocked me to the ground.
The double-edged sword was
the knife to cut my meals
& break through my ribcage.
A thread began to unravel when you left
once tucked in the corner of my mind
Now picked at by your absence.
The emptiness reveals itself
as speech filtered through unresolved anger
& frustration perceived as contempt.
I know you will soon return
like clockwork
but still
I am deep in my version of mourning.
So please,
give me time to heal.

Branching out... the words weave and have no apparent beginning or end (sorry). 😅 ▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️▫️▪️ I’ve been thinking of contributing to the artist support pledge campaign for a while. It’s a way to support artists during the current covid climate... So artists share their work, with a price under £200. And if they sell £1k of art they pledge to buy another artist’s art. Now...for me, getting to that target is unlikely (very thankful to be employed as a, self titled, “HRtist” in Talent Management), when many artists will be really struggling just now. And I rarely price my art here... however I’m happy to say this drawing is £40 (£60 framed) and I’m happy to ship it (or deliver locally one day in the future)! 😅I know art is subjective, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I’ve learned people sometimes are shy to ask on prices - art can seem inaccessible (hidden by #artspeak). This is an A4 sized drawing, on artist quality paper, drawn in pen (permanent, so it won’t fade in time). I was left islanded. Still, your presence drifts towards me In actions inherited Unknowingly Showing themselves in the seas Of my subconscious Surprising me with their steadiness Bobbing to and fro but never lost by the tides Bringing me assurance With the waves. My opinion of you doesn’t crash anymore It slowly creeps up the shore of my mind Heightening with time What will you do to my levees? Soon you will breach these floodgates Unless I open them willingly To be immersed in you Floating on a love overflown.
