⚡️ Opening tonight, 17th of July in Athens at Serafeio Centre and book presentation at Benaki Museum🌟 Vicky Pericleous ‘Also in Athens’, 2019 works are part of this great group exhibition ‘Art: Key to Conflict Resolution’ 👏 #Vicky Pericleous, ‘Also in Athens’ 2019, archaeological guides: ATHENS, archaeological guide, by Al. Ν. Oekonomidi, Editions St. Vrionis, 1960s. Five sculptural objects, drawing by eraser, colour pencils, gold leaf, stones, corals, fossil, 43 x 27 x 5 cm (each) “As a citizen and visual artist, I approach this very notion of Conflict as an embedded constituent within the history(ies) and socio-political layers of the Image itself; its presence, often - and – wittily, is being silenced by hegemonic narratives and authoritative processes. In my practice, I employ a variety of media, agents and mechanisms to examine how different modes of production – of Space - re-locate overpower or pacify both Image and Perception. Reflecting, at the same time, on politics of Place itself. Cultural and spatiotemporal fragments and hierarchies are re-configured to investigate the fragilities of - a- Place(s) that could open up into different possibilities and sites of becoming(s) or merely collapse. These sites - and in respect to Art as yet an-other site to engage with the world(s) - could, therefore, construct and propose - and - other Imaginaries, geographical or cultural, which move beyond enclosed systems of thought - and conflict.” #vickypericleous #artseenartists #alsoinathens #groupexhibition #athens #conflictandart (at Athens, Greece) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0A3YOSFRbL/?igshid=4tzsnqy3f9ze
