"I’m proud nothing else worked out." I say it clearly this time. Not as a way to convince myself, but because I finally believe it. There’s a quiet truth in it now. A sense of peace I didn’t have before.

I like the way his skin feels beneath my hands—soft, warm, almost like the surface of a ripe peach. There’s a light fuzz along his arms that catches the light and reminds me he’s real. Human. Beautiful in a way that makes me gush like water overflowing in a sink.

For a long time, I told myself I didn’t deserve him. I repeated it so often it became a rhythm in my head. But then he commands a kiss, and I give it to him without hesitation. And for a moment, all of that doubt just... stops.

Loving him feels like waves.

Not dramatic, crashing ones—just steady movement. Rise and fall. Something constant and alive.

Be still; child.

I used to fight it. Tried to stay above it, control it, resist being carried anywhere. I thought if I let go, I’d drown.

But eventually, I stopped struggling. I let myself float. And it turns out that was the whole point.

God is the stillness underneath it all. Jesus is the steady place we come to center.
