I was thinking last night while rewatching season one, the first season of My Beautiful Man is so obviously titled.
Hira says it countless times in his head: "Kiyoi is so beautiful." He says it a number of times to Kiyoi himself even. It's obvious from the first scene with flower petals falling that Kiyoi is the subject of the My Beautiful Man title.
Season two however has been two episodes of Kiyoi flipping the narrative. It's all in the "if you wore nice clothes, you'd look nice." and "I could fall in love with you all over again."
It's in the "My Man isn't a pebble.", "I wanted people to see how great My Man was." "My Man-" "My Man:" "My Man."
Kiyoi has put such an emphasis on his view of Hira both verbally and through his Inner monologue, and he's made it clear who the Beautiful Man this season is. He's just got two more episodes to make Hira see it too.
I'm re-watching Not Me and god, this is one of the shows I wish I could go back and watch again for the first time. The way my heart leapt out of my chest when Sean accused Black of being a twin UGH it will never hit the same way
I really couldn't stand Golf in episode one of TTWE, because I thought he was just playing out toxic traits of masculine or dom men that are sometimes romanticised in BL, but by the beginning episode two I've realised it's not romanticised, he's CRAZY crazy and I am here for that.
