I’m reminded of Bernard Suits’ definition of playing a game, which is also my favorite definition of art-making: “the voluntary attempt to overcome unnecessary obstacles.”

Meet the Museum has a way of bringing to life the youthful abandon and merriment of a Jerome Myers artwork. May Days are just around the corner and we still have spots open in the afternoon session!
For three Sundays, beginning on May 1, young artists ages 2-4 and their adult companion will experiment with and explore art to discover who we are, learn about the world around us, and the ways in which art can help heal us.

IC: Thank you for the kind words. I don't know when you started following, but when I returned home after a lot of travel in October and November, it seemed like it was hard to get traction in my art-making practice. I'm happier with where the work is now.
Art-making is not about telling the truth but making the truth felt.

Finally warm enough to thumbnail outside.
Because drawing comix tends to require staying cooped up inside for so many hours, I try to find ways to incorporate working outside into the process. Thumbnailing is an ideal stage that doesn’t necessarily need to be done inside.
In case you’re curious, I use a Leuchtturm 1917 Hardcover Pocket Notebook. The link will take you to a dotted version, because the plain is sold out on Amazon. But I actually wouldn’t mind a dotted one. Would probably help make panel layout somewhat more orderly.
For the actual sketching I use a :
- Staedtler Mars Technico filled with blue lead.
- Staedtler Pigment Liner 3.0
- Sakura Pigma Sensei 1.0
