Painting tutorial YASSSSSSS
I hope my english is not that bad pls its so late my brain is not functioning well bye
i’m trying to get into using procreate but i really hate being bad at things, so if anyone has pointers on how to use the app better or even how to improve my “art” i would appreciate any & all advice!
(here are two unfinished pieces i got frustrated with for reference)
Since season 2 of Fallout, I’ve been replaying Fallout 4 and playing New Vegas for the first time. So here’s my favourite synth detective! But I’m not finished with him yet!
I’m experimenting with a digital art technique, going from greyscale to colour via adjustment layers.
I’ve been a digital artist since 2018, but my brain still works like a traditional painter, so I usually mix colours directly on the canvas as I’m going.
I’ve noticed through this process by stripping away the colour, I’ve been able to focus entirely on the ‘mood’ and the sculpt of his face before I worry about the colours. It’s harder than it looks, but I’m loving the challenge.
I also always use reference photos, otherwise my proportions look whack. It helps a lot to study them and use grids when you’re sketching. I found this grea reference pic online, and it honestly made me wonder if Bethesda used this exact image when designing Nick Valentine 😂

✦’’~ Small art dump of Habit
Heyy!! So I know this isn't my usual content lol (i promise more headcannons and stories are to come!). Just lately, I've been getting more into digital art again, so here's something something I just finished working on!!
(Let me know if you'd like to see more content like this.. obviously, this won't be often since I write more than I draw Hahaha. But I may as well offer it)
Anyways! Here's a little drawing of Habit obviously hehe :3

Acquiring the correct scanner can be key in accurately digitizing your work. CIS scanners are affordable, fast, good for B&W, but fail to capture the broad spectrum of colour and depth you can get with CCD Scanners.
CCD scanners are more expensive, but as most older scanners were CCD style, you can sometimes find them for cheap on the secondary market. I got my Epson for $20 on craigslist. Their mechanisms are more delicate though, so make sure they work before you buy and take care in transporting them.
Search the name and # of the scanner before you buy - you can often find their technical specs from the manufacturer that will let you know whether they're CCD or CIS format.
