Oil on canvas

My teacher told me to mix the colors directly on the canvas rather than making them on the palette and then applying to the canvas. I tried it and it actually worked pretty well, and makes for a result that is cooler to look at. I'm particularly proud of the circular composition I made with the background and the hair movement. That was not on the reference pic. I struggled a bit with the eyes tho.
no worse feeling in the world than seeing a painting you absolutely love then looking it up and. private collection

At the High with the guys (Thanks to all my non-art family and friends for putting up with my obsession). Some people want to visit every major sports stadium. My goal is to visit every art museum in every major city. I'm upset that I didn't get to see Amy Sherald’s exhibit this time around. I'm going to try to go back before it ends.
“Casshern Sins” is one of the most beautiful animes I’ve seen so far.
If you are unaware of “Casshern” rest assured this post has no spoilers.
I just finished “Casshern sins” for the first time and I’m dumbfounded this flew under my radar for so long. I grew up watching the old “Speed Racer”and have been a big fan of “Gatchaman”. Tatsunoko Productions is a very cool part of manga and anime history.
The show in particular is bizarre and other worldly. It hits some very strong deep topics about fear of death, what it means to be alive and why we keep going when everything has an end. The animation style is quite unique and uses very dramatic shading and posing. It’s definitely darker than the original. I could see fans of ego proxy, death note, or evangelion finding it a worthwhile venture. The ending is not abstract though, it’s very resolute. So if you’re looking for some thing that leaves you guessing this would not be it.
I believe I saw somebody say on Reddit “it’s bad at being a Casshern story. But it has enough to make it its own adventure” or something along those lines
To take an anime that was made in 1973 and spin it on his head for the 2000s market mustn’t have been easy. Yet it still captures aspects of the original while being its own thing.
All in all I definitely recommend it it (〃∇〃)
