it's dcrb posting day! i'm wildly excited because that means you all get to read @bethmints' incredible horny (literally) Demon!Dean fic that had me both biting my nails and on the floor laughing every time she updated the doc. (the puns. the tension. the case. the everything!!) it was such a treat to get to see this one take shape and i can't thank beth enough for being amazing and doing so right by this goofy idea.

After bolting from the bunker, demon-on-the-run Dean makes himself scarce. When Cas finally tracks him down in Louisiana, he's disturbed by what he finds: a yellow-eyed, big horned, id-driven creature that, whether he likes it or not, might just still be his best friend.
But of course, Dean isn't the most frightening thing in Slidell. There's a hungry mystery lurking in the still waters of Lake Pontchartrain, and Cas is discovering he has distressing appetites of his own.
When an angel and a demon walk into a restaurant and order the crawfish boil, you know the punchline's bound to be a doozy.
Go read it here! I am so honored to have gotten to draw for Tanis's fic. I have been obsessing over this for months (as my friends know). This fic is one of the most incredible things I've ever read! I loved every monster-filled second of it! And designing and drawing the monster was so much fun!

I saw once an old photograph from the 50s-60s from my home country, where a man waits with a bouquet behind his back and looks at a smiling woman who is coming towards him on the crosswalk, titled "Randevous at the crosswalk". And it's such a lovely scene, stuck with me for months, and I couldn't resist to draw a destiel version of it.
Deanogie choose my art and wrote a fantastic and cute story for it, set in the 50s. You don't want to miss out this one. ;)

I think this DCRB is the first time I've submitted digital art for a reverse bang (I'd previously done a linocut for @deancas-stabfest last round they ran), and I couldn't be more pleased with my partner stonelions' incredible work!

This was the OG version in the gallery, inspired by the end scene in I Saw the TV Glow with the associated prompt along the lines of either an IStTG AU, or something playing with Cas' canon connection to TVs and his 'multidimensional wavelength of celestial intent' nature:
Stonelions took the prompt and ran further that I'd dreamed, writing a gorgeous fic, centered on Cas (who struggles with his borrowed grace, post-humanity) and Mark of Cain era Dean going on an intimate case fic that pays wonderful homage to ISTTG, down to the broken power lines, queerness, the meta nature of The Pink Opaque and the Carver Edlund books, etc, all of which hurts just as sweetly as IStTG does. Reading the draft made me feel the same way as watching the movie for the first time, like looking into a mirror, and with all the references that felt tailor made... I can't scream enough about this fic. I sent this to stonelions earlier today:

After claims I finished a loose render of the bathroom from the original reference image:
And after receiving the draft made these static and GIF versions for the final main art:
On all of these, I used my usual preferred combo of Syrup and Turpentine, and then played with different jittery and glitch brushes I had for the static, a window brush for the lines coming out of Cas (which in the OG/static version are done in the same colors as a "no signal" color bar error screen on a CRT TV). For the GIF'd version, I also played with chromatic aberration on some of the duplicated color bar layers I had (and as with all GIFs, I just export the frames individually then put them together on Canva).
I made a broken sparking power line and a pink thread (frayed, to evoke the fic title, and more rope-like because "freedom is a length of rope and God wants you to hang yourself with it") PNGs for scene dividers:
For the sparks I played with some firework sparkler brushes I had from an "art with Flo" brush pack, and I used Turpentine for everything else.
And did the sticky notes individually (Siken always gets me, man), using Syrup brush for the note and shadow, then a Micro Nib brush from a brush pack called "The Rusty Nib", with a really tiny Bokeh Lights brush over it to emulate glitter for the glitter gel pen text:
