I know you currently work in a museum so do you have any tips on how to get a museum job? Where to look, what to say, how much of a lack of experience one can get away with, etc? I graduated with an MS in paleo almost 3 years ago and can’t for the life of me land anything sustainable and it’s killing me I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
So I actually currently am just an affiliate while I’m in grad school, and my work there beforehand was...Â

it’s kind of a long story but the GIST of it is:
1. my former advisor who is Bad promised me a position in grad school after a summer internship that I got with him because my undergrad mentor was a former student of his
2. i didn’t get in
3. my parents paid my rent so i could just... show up at the Field and not leave until somebody (my advisor) gave me something to do OR admit he lied
4. my old boss, who HATES my first advisor, hired me partially out of spite and partially because he liked me
Basically, I got my job thanks to academic nepotism and curator feuds. I openly admit to how much luck it was. I’m sorry that’s not particularly helpful!
Some job hunting tips- do you have any technical lab skills, like you’re super good with some mech equipment, or you’re like a genius in the prep lab? Skills-based collections people are often in high demand. You might be able to find better jobs at smaller institutions- don’t expect to land AMNH without some serious experience and credentials, but regional museums might be easier to stick. Also, one of the rough things about museums is that they’re kinda far apart- you might have to be willing to move.Â
Finally, have you checked to see if any of your old profs have museum connections? Try to lean on those if you can. The museum world loooooves academic/professional nepotism, and connections can get you a long way.

I mean chances are they don’t actually print enough of these to distribute them via LGSes because this is a limited edition prestige item for collectors with disposable income, not the average player walking into their LGS for a fun night.
Also let’s be real, LGSes would probably receive so few boxes the ultimate profit would be a drop in the bucket compared to booster/box sales.
Ok so with your advice and some thinking I’m beginning to lean more towards a different deck, and since you were so helpful, i wanted your opinion, if you’re up to it (if not that’s cool too). My other idea is a sultai reanimate deck. Would that potentially be more reasonable than a vraska deck?
So, first, let me apologize if I made a vraska deck sound unreasonable in one of my previous messages, that was definitely not the intent, I just wanted to clarify that even if the deck could play Vraska(s) as one of its centerpieces, it probably would take advantage of having different complementary approaches as well. So kind of a weird question: did the whole touching human skulls thing bother you as well? I studied paleomammology and didn’t focus on humans, but the school had one real specimen in their collections. I never quite figured out why, but I could barely touch it and every time I had to I had this uneasy feeling. I was just wondering if you ever had the same problem, or if it’s something that takes some getting used to, or if I’m just weird. Btw I love your content esp the osteo stuff!!
I never felt that way but a LOT of people do and it’s totally valid. Those skulls used to be living, breathing human beings, and not all of them consented to having their bodies used for science. I think I never felt weird about it because I’ve worked with handling human tissues since I was a kid (my dad’s a surgeon). Honestly, considering where skeletal collections come from, we should all at least take a moment to consider them and be thankful that we do have them, and treat them as respectfully as possible.

For FoF: Firstly, I support your headcanon that LL is a switch with a preference and have adopted that as my own. Also that LL is mostly illiterate and only bothered to learn just enough to get by with whatever he needs and nothing more. And that ZYZ did and does genuinely love WX, ZYC, and LL
For VoS: Li Jie loves both versions of Ji Ling but does see them as separate entities (I also see them as separate entities intrinsically linked and I will die defending that one too), and Ji Ling (both versions) loves Li Jie too but Li Jie obviously does his best to hide it because "proper" and long shen!Ji Ling successfully hides it because he doesn't believe Li Jie reciprocates
For LBFAD: Jieli opens another shop post-canon and has the orphans help her run it, teaching them life skills with it
