When we bought this house 11 years ago (next month!), this room over the garage was an all-glass sauna/hot tub/outdoor carpeted nightmare that was leaking and needed to be torn down. But I LOVED the space. And after many years, tears, permits and dollars, we created the most perfect office/library/guest room ever and what is now my favourite room in the house. It is solidly and properly built, itβs full of windows, natural light and all things books, writing, music and me. @keswickscott configured and built this amazing library for me, customizing the top-right shelves to match the contour of the 11-foot ceiling. The shelves are all wood, not MDF or laminated pressboard and they are anchored to the floor and the walls more solidly than I am anchored to reality (ha!). The only piece we still need to make and install is the rolling ladder (for now, I access the top with a construction ladder and a prayer, lol). I have pictures of the entire process and the rest of the space that I plan to turn into a before/after post one of these days, but for now, Iβm settling for sharing this unfiltered, untidy-desk-and-half-a-dog in the shot of the βafterβ because I just love it all so much, mess and all. This is where I sit. Where I contemplate. Where I write. Where I work. Where I hide. Where I retreat. Where I breathe. Where I cry and where I laugh. This room, much like I am, is a work-in-progress and a true labour of love. #TheKeswickBlog #HomeLibrary #HomeOffice #Custom #aroomofonesown #VirginiaWoolf #MumLife #MomLife #MyLife (at Keswick, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqInvUqsix1/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
