The fact that I remember the first time the Arkh Project scammed people out of money is a sign I've been on this hell site way too long but in all seriousness holy shit don't give them your money

Well, I did watch that run cycle.
People are talking about the Arkh project again because of that post going around and I'm honestly surprised anybody thought that it was going to happen. Like people actually thought a group of independents with no real experience were going to make a AAA-quality game with basically no budget? As someone self-indulgent concept stuff (I keep it to myself), that's pretty clearly what Arkh was from the beginning--Riley day-dreaming about a super awesome game they were going to make. Smacked of a fourteen year old's fictionpress story too. All the characters are some sort supahspecial of god entities and there was some sort yaoi slave romance plot. Hilarious. I don't think the Arkh project (or even other tumblr projects like Dashcon) was a "scam" at all--just the result of a person completely out of touch with reality.

The arkh project was this video game that was funded on indiegogo I think? Whichever site doesn't allow refunds. The game was promised to be really diverse in characters but they weren't very diverse actually. some of their game concepts were ableist

for real though, Dashcon may be the punchline of basically every "tumblr tries to do a thing" joke nowadays but it was an incredible success compared to the cesspool of hilarious failure that was The Arkh Project
at least Dashcon actually happened

So I read about the Arkh project disaster and checked out their indiegogo page and their tumblr.
Reading over their game plan, I can see why this project blew up in smoke.
Also my wallet cried looking at the prices.
