No poking food, no loud sounds, no blowing on hot dishes. Offering someone seconds uninvited? Technically improper!

Work is for servants

An aristocrat never does "dirty work". Their tasks were symbolic — like a “royal bachelor” title, not a real job.

Flirting through accessories, speech, and suggestion

"Language of flowers and objects" — silent messaging

People conveyed meaning through bouquets (roses = love, violets = modesty).

Strict distance and emotional control

Sincerity was seen as a sign of lower class. One had to show moderation, tasteful humor, light flirtation — but never more.

Managing an estate is a man’s duty

Even if you never plow a field, you're expected to oversee land, tenants, household staff, local disputes, leases, and regional politics.

Choose refined dialogue — no vulgarity; address by title: “Your Grace…”, “My Lord…”
