Oi, no fair! - Unexpected Bookbinding Woes...
First time sowing on supporting linnen tapes went really well tonight. By sheer dumb beginners luck my swell (1) was exactly the extra 20 - 30 % recommended for rounding a book.
I was so hyped by the unexpected success that suddenly excitement began to outweigh the sheer bloody terror of tackling my book with a hammer tomorrow. Only to be thwarted by... physics!
The thrice cursed heatwave of the past 3 weeks turned my PVA glue into something you can cut with a knive rather than spread with a brush. It was just about malleable enough to tip on my decorative endpapers. But for anything else I will need to to some shopping before I can continue. Meh!
On the other hand... I guess I can finally treat myself to some of that fancy marbled paper I've been eyeing for a while now. So... win some loose some I guess? ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
(1) The extra volume you add to the spine (as opposed to the fore-edge) of your book with the thread in the sowing process.
