Apprentice: Frogtail

Xhosa (101) has been having a rough time lately.  First she was poisoned, then she had kits, and now she has heat stroke.  Palepaw’s (12) doing her best, but she worries that it won’t be enough.  Meanwhile, Creekstar (87) is giving Dawnfreckle (17)  more patrols so that he has more opportunities to prove himself.  It would be nice to have another proven dark-cursed cat.  And it keeps him out of camp and away from the kits and apprentices. Also, the fearsome fivesome (now foursome) miss their sister.  Skippaw (8), Bluepaw (8), and Frostpaw (8) feel like they’re missing the light to their darkness.  Brightpaw (8) misses her friend and sister who’s always looked out for her.  With their sister missing, the foursome are having some tensions. Skippaw feels like Brightpaw must be cheating in their training sessions-there’s no way she could win that many fights!  Brightpaw points out that maybe she’s just really powerful.  It’s true, after all.  Skippaw storms off and decides that she wants to spend time alone.  She passes the time by watching Dawnfreckle go on all his patrols and wonders what he was like as an apprentice.  If she can prove herself before she’s a warrior, will she be able to go on fewer patrols?  While Brightpaw is doing well with mastering her powers, Shinepaw (8) worries that she’s not doing enough.  She feels like she should be bringing back more prey from her hunting patrols. In a bit of good news, Hopedawn (22) had her kits.  Rindlekit (0) is a daring little girl who has an earth-blessing.  Palepaw’s glad it seems like he’ll have some help in the Healer’s den soon.  Next is the charming little boy, Rootkit (0), who got his mother’s water-blessing and is almost identical to her.  The last kit is the nervous little Lilackit (0), who’s powerless.  Safariaster (140) has taken to bossing Eaglepaw (8) around.  He’s not thrilled about that but thinks that Safariaster must be practicing for when she’s an elder.  Spotfoot (14) and Echomoor (14) get in a fight.  Echomoor worries that his brother suspects something.  He feels bad for killing Autumpaw, but he doesn’t want to leave the Clan!

Creekstar’s (86) final kit has become a warrior.  Spotpaw (13) is now Spotfoot, in honor of his steadfastness.  Primcrest (74) is stressed with training yet another apprentice.  On top of that, it’s hard to keep Echomoor (13) convinced to keep the true cause of his sister’s death a secret.  He feels like it would help both him and Creekstar.  But he trusts the advice of the deputy and keeps it quiet.  Because of all this, Eaglepaw (7) was trying to tell Primcrest how his training was going, but she was noticeably distracted.  Tumbleswoop (21) ends up needing to fix something with Bluepaw (7) and gets into an argument with her.  She was trying to use her earth magic to grow the moss in the nursery, but Tumbleswoop freaks out and snaps at her.  Palepaw (11) has to step in and fix it instead.  Dawnfreckle (16) has been obsessed with finding a way to prove himself, lately, to take some of the stress of his mother.  It’s led to him not doing a ton of work around camp, and cats (like Smokefoot-21) are noticing.  He also gets into an argument with Archpaw (7).  It’s a little intimidating when the dark-cursed and star-blessed cats are fighting.  Archpaw hasn’t let her star-blessed powers come between her and her dark-cursed littermates, though.  She makes sure to spend some time playing with Skippaw (7) when they both have a break from training.  Archpaw also covers for Frostpaw (7) when she sneaks out of camp to escape the adults’ supervision. Bluepaw is glad that there are older dark-cursed cats in the Clan and asks Echomoor if he can give her advice for training with Creekstar, as she is his mother, after all.  Bluepaw is determined to do well and wants to become a warrior before Streamkit (3) is made an apprentice.  Unlikely, but possible.  However, the Clan receives an unfortunate omen.  While on patrol, Archpaw, the one star-blessed cat in the Clan, is captured by twolegs.  That can’t be good.
