Archie was perplexed. They town they lived in was a pretty quiet one, it was rare for things to go as wrong as they did that day. The last time he was tasked with a case so heinous had been years ago, one of his very first at the department. An older man was executed in broad daylight, in the parking lot of one of the town’s busiest strip malls. And it didn’t stop there, because another body was discovered in a parking garage not too far from the first.
He wasted no time looking into any lead they had, which at that point was… nothing. A few workers from the surrounding shops were brought in, so he and his partner decided to start by interviewing them. He went to the first room he saw was open, and was more than shocked to see his ex-boyfriend sitting in a chair. The fact that he worked at one of the stores in the strip mall completely slipped his mind, but as the initial shock wore off it was starting to make more sense. “Aaron.” He wasn’t able to stop the slight smile that shaped the corners of his lips. For a few moments, he forgot about what brought the two together.
But then he did. And he was able to somewhat refocus enough to walk over to the desk. He reached into one of the draws and took out a blank notepad. As he looked for a pen on the cluttered desk, he couldn’t help but glance over at the other. “Uhh, before we start… how have you been?” Eventually he found a pen that worked, and started to write down his own information as he waited for a response.
