I decided to make a general post so I can reach out to everyone who sees this so I can get some feedback and suggestions for content that I think is important to make.
I have had a tiktok account for a while now specifically for interacting with the community that is on the platform — as terrifying as they may be to some — and while I have made a few posts in the past I have decided to try and step up my game to help combat misinformation and spread proper community teachings there.
This is where you come in!
I am looking for:
posts
essays
blogs
experiences
etc
that you would think would be good to share to help spread information and awareness to the community on tiktok.
Because of this I am also asking permission from those who post said things, — if they do wish for me to share their posts, or if they see someone else suggest their writings, — if they would be ok with me reading their posts, and whether they would prefer to stay anonymous or not. Also disclaimers that may be included with posts that are ok with being shared!
I know that some parts of the community are much more wary than others about what is shared around, which is why I don’t want to just grab random posts myself without first making sure others are ok with it.
Reblogs and replies to this post are welcome! I look forward to seeing what you all may share!

A silly funsie thing of my very rough, loose interpretation of alterhuman identities (just a couple of them) in a limited 2D visual representation.
Really, alterhumanity is probably 5D+ motion madness. At the very least, I'd imagine that constel is going around like its namesake.
(Posted as requested by @paracosmic-gt :D)
(that grammar was weird, ugh. I donno how to fix it)
Terms below cut.
Likeness - What's on the tin, whatever you "share a likeness with".
archive.md/2023.10.30-142647/https://extranth.tumblr.com/post/680195890861998080/okay-so-this-is-my-coining-but-again-its-not
Simile - "A simile (in the context of alterhuman identity) is a character, animal, concept, or object, which reflects or otherwise represents who you are, without actually being a part of your identity. A simile may be described as a metaphor for who you are."
Vaguetype[1][2] - An alterhuman identity that may fall into multiple categories, or if one has uncertainty or simply prefers not to define what all goes into a single identity.
Archetropy - An identity in which one performs the role, the title, the trope, or the narrative space one occupies and embodies.
Cameo (Shift) - A shift not of one's 'type.
otherkin.wiki/wiki/Shifting
'Flicker - A brief, temporary identity. Flags.
Hearthome - "A place, whether real or imagined, to which a being has a deep and meaningful emotional connection, considering it their 'home.' This connection is strong, even if the being has not been raised or spent a significant amount of time in that particular location."
Paratype - "an identity facet that only exists in relation to a preestablished identity". Up-to-date reading here at Poppy’s website poppyhapalopus.neocities.org/alterhuman/essays/definingparatypes
Kardiatype - A past life [in] which [your] experiences had such an impact on you that it [wholly or partly] formed your core identity and personality, even to this day, [but] … you [DON’T] identify as the being from your past life anymore.
A panel on kardiatype presented by @noodledragonsoup and I can be found here youtu.be/71dXVAsq-_E?si=BQg0mMBc2GK0LO93
Constelic - Individuals "take on or adopt an identity, or multiple identities, throughout their lifetime. People who are constelic may have any number of adopted identities, and it may fluctuate in count or intensity. These adopted identities aren't usually there at birth, instead being discovered at any point later in their life. These adopted identities aren't always permanent, but they can last a very, very long time. "
Heartedness - Identifying with something instead of as. To fully understand what that abstractness entails, I highly recommend reading Part I of Poppy's Simile essay.
Synpath - Something you identify with on several levels, which could be a concept that resonates really strongly with you, an animal or mythological creature you feel you act like, or a person or character you share a lot of common behaviors with, among other things. This often is used in synonymous to heartedness, but many do use it differently than hearttype.
'Linked - An identity that was created, constructed, or connected to intentionally, wherein that identity is capable of fading out without maintainance and care, and is possible for said identity to establish root and become permanent, self sustaining. Usually, people only link identify-as identities, but there are folks like me who go beyond and link all sorts of alterhuman identities on the spectrum.
web.archive.org/web/20180325235532/http://victiim-of-changes.tumblr.com/post/170162038800/otherlinkers-are-not-kin-but-voluntary
I'm also avoiding the usage of "voluntary" because that's a whole mess within the community. A linked identity is the connection that you intentionally bridged, that's it.
Kinity - In which one identifies as a nonhuman species or character.
otherkin.wiki/wiki/Otherkin
Therianthropy - In which one identifies as an animal.
Essentially the same as being otherkind or fictionkind, just of different focus.
Just in case, therian does mean any species that has animality within.
Any links that aren't embedded are due to external links not being able to be reblogged into the community. Please put the links directly into your URL bar or add https:// at the front.
hellooo I wanted to propose an idea for a word to encompass a range of terms which are distinctly different but clearly have similarities. this is partially because I think it would be helpful for archival, partially because I’ve noticed people confusing separate things for miscecanis, and partially because I think it would be nice to have something unifying!
my proposed term is: sociarchy!
a combination of social and hierarchy!
so what exactly do sociarchies encompass? there are a few unique terms that have several similar characteristics floating around lately:
- specific roles/dynamics/archetypes
- lifestyle, practice, way of living (especially fiction applied to one’s lifestyle, not inherently but a common thread)
- hierarchical structure
- other qualities like group and relationship dynamics
one popular example of this is miscecanis, which is obviously based in omegaverse! other examples of these kinds of terms are pastryverse, fasieverse, slasherverse! these terms do not have to have a verse suffix but is another common occurrence
other terms, like archetrope and nichelink, may or may not fall under this umbrella, but there are definitely some shared characteristics or distinctive overlap in their practice for some
You do not have to use sociarchy as a term or an identity, nor is it meant to replace anything or put these terms in a box! I recognise that these terms have common characteristics and it may be beneficial for my initially stated reasons to have a word with which to refer to them!

i think i would feel more connected to my unicorn 'type if i interacted with other unicorns more frequently, but it seems like no matter how hard i look, i cannot find others like me. im a unicorn archetrope, not a unicornkin, so i already struggle to relate to the unicorns that i see in the tags... but i also feel like no one really thinks of being unicorn the way i do?
when i look at the tags, all i see are "white horse with a horn" type unicorns, or even "magical rainbow pink glittery pony" ones. and dont get me wrong, i have nothing against these individuals! they are free to interpret unicorns in a way that best reflects their self-perception. but that just... isnt me. i very much vibe with the older interpretation of unicorns, the one i identify with as a unicorn archetrope: a wild deer-like beast with a lions tail and a curved horn so sharp it could kill men; a creature that embodies nature itself, something that cannot be tamed or contained.
i feel like there are almost no unicorns like this out there? when i read older texts, from before the unicorn community joined the larger otherkin community, i find that i can relate to them so easily. they are just like me! the modern unicornkin community, on the other side, feels almost... foreign. i feel like i dont belong there, both as a unicorn and as an archetrope. and it sucks.
btw if any unicorns wanna be friends feel free to reblog this and say hello... the purpose of this post is so i can find others like me :>

Coursers, ridden into battle by knights in the Middle Ages. Pegasus, birthed from Medusa's blood and reared by Bellerophon in order to slay the Chimera. Agro, galloping across the Forbidden Lands as Wander pursues the colossi of fictitious legends.
What comes to mind when you think of a noble steed?
Typically, a noble steed is the mount of a heroic figure. Regardless if they have a name of their own or not, the purpose of this animal is straightforward: to aid their rider in their quests as a swift, hardy and trusty companion.
So how does one translate such a role into a personal lifestyle? How does one embody a noble steed?
I've been asking myself the same thing over and over as I find ways to express myself as an equine. If there's anything definitive about my equinehood, it's the intrinsicality of fulfilling a role. I see this in my role as a draft horse, belonging to two breeds each created with the purpose of assisting humans with their agricultural work. I also see this in my role as a pegasusmon, evolving with the purpose of warding off evil entities through the element of Hope and the attribute of Holiness. Then, we have the most archetypal of my experiences: my choice to be Epona. I won't get into the messy details of why I've chosen this experience over the one already have (as Zelda) in parallel to this life, ultimately forsaking the latter in favor of the former. Just know that starting out as a horse of humble beginnings and later becoming in service to a beloved hero is as noble as it gets for a steed like myself.
That said, simply having these experiences isn't enough in my opinion. I must emulate the drive of a noble steed in my daily life as well. At first glance, I thought it'd be difficult to fulfill this role when I'm perceived as entirely and exclusively human by those around me. However, I learned along the way that it's less about the literal perception that one receives from others and more about the personal perception one holds. It's something that slipped my mind as an archetroper, given the hustle and bustle of life.
"Noble" is subjective, I believe. If I only stuck to the fantastical and/or medieval-esque sense of "noble", then I'd find myself at a dead end. There's little to no outlets that I could publicly partake in to express the role I intend to embody. There's renaissance fairs, yes, but not only do I lack the means of attending one as of now, I'm not sure what the gauge is for nonhuman expression at these sorts of gatherings. That's why, for the sake of personal accessibility, I opt to expand the ways in which a steed can be "noble".
Ignoring the high-brow contexts of the term, noble also refers to something that exhibits honorable principles or qualities, usually in a selfless manner. This could apply to feats of historic or mythic renown, such as the examples I gave at the beginning. However, this concept of what is noble could apply to mundane actions as well. We live in a world full of opportunities where one can give back to those around them, and that’s where the makings of noble character lie.
Nowadays, I try to take more initiative with physically daunting tasks at my job. From lifting around fifty pounds worth of materials to carrying bulk orders to patrons, the tasks I perform come with their own sense of duty. I'm not fond of my job, but one can assume coursers weren't particularly fond of being charged into war by men-at-arms in heavy, ironclad suits either. To an extent, I get something out of my labor besides a hard-earned headache and a meager paycheck. In this position, I’m able to build upon the qualities that suit my tropetype: strength, reliability, and efficiency, all performed in close proximity to humankind.
Outside of work, I’ve made it a habit to give away things I no longer need. Usually, I do this with the clothes I once wore in high school as long as they’re in good condition. Other times, I give away old books of mine to used bookstores and donation bins within my area. Hopefully, someone will come to love those stories as I once had.
It's not the romantic image that most have in mind for a noble steed, but if there's anything I've learned as an alterhuman, it's that appearances aren't the deciding factor of who or what you are.
Appearances can influence, reflect, or even be used as outlets for one's sense of self; yet, appearances aren't the only means to shaping selfhood. Our actions as members of society affect that too. I'm not capable of embarking on grand adventures with a chosen one or witnessing epic battles unfold as a part of a cavalry, but I am capable of being a dependable member of my team and doing what I can to ensure folks make the most of their visit at my workplace. It's all but customary of a noble steed.
I do have to wonder if I am a minotaur because of how often we are in a state of transition. Transition has always been very hard for me. As a child, transition meant I was leaving a place of comfort (my mother) and going to a place of stress (my father). When it comes to my sensory issues, a transition means going from one sensory experience to another, which may be unexpected or unpleasant. In school, which I have not yet left, it is always a transition from one grade to the next. I bounce between science and the arts, in both curriculum and career. There is a never ending application process, constantly looking for a new place to live and new roommates. And within myself, I am in constant transition between someone I want to be (queer, expressive, a bit strange) and someone I have to preform as (straight, a good sorority girl, keeping up appearances for my family.), or between a version of myself that I have crafted to keep me safe (the fictional gillman) and the version of myself that remains untouched (the wild jersey devil). My gender, my family history, other things that I won't dive into here....
Much of this is because I'm young. My childhood was unusual in that way, but adolescence and young adulthood is nothing but transition after transition...
The Minotaur is about transition, about that state of being In-Between, unable to fully pull myself up onto one bank or the other. I think about being a gillman and a jersey devil, about how I struggle to draw lines as to where one ends and the other begins. There is such a distance between them, the things that they embody and experience, but they are just two points on my spiderweb. I remind myself that in being a Minotaur, I will likely never be able to draw clear lines within myself.
I'm sure adulthood will sort itself out and I will become more sure of things. I'm sure that my reasons for being a Minotaur will eventually fade into the background and become just a small pebble on the mountain of identity-formation. But right now the yolk is heavy, and I haven't gone to the gym in a few months.
All of this being said, I don't think being secure in things would make me happy. Knowing things such as housing or grad school results would ease me, of course, but within my identity? I don't think I could ever wish my complexity away. I think wishing and washing and tumbling along is apart of it. I think that being still or stationary or sure in anything takes away a bit of the allure. I am in a bath of ice water, and it is good for me, and I just need to dunk my head in and relish in it. I am generally good at relishing in things, so long as I remember to try. I think about one of my favorite songs.
Slouching towards the sky's extent
From the edges of a waste
With something darker than a hope
Something brighter, still in fate
In the saddle of my tauntaun
Is a sapphire studded ring
And I keep it to remind me
Who I am and what I'll be
When true simplicity is gained
How much then is lost?
I invested in them feelings
I paid dearly for them thoughts
Hi Mineblr! We’re doing a project about Minecraft archetypes and tropes and one thing We want to include is a list of them.
We’re looking both for real-life player archetypes (like redstoner) and common narrative archetypes and tropes (like world-haunting entity).
Would folks be so kind as to reblog with all the Minecraft archetypes and tropes they can think of? Everyone We end up quoting will be cited, of course.
