Summary: A sort of alternate-history take where Varenechibel did let himself get talked into bringing Maia to live at the Court after his mother died - but Maia (now 18) still ends up in an arranged marriage to Csethiro, because of, you know, Plot Reasons. In his final year of studying at the university in Cetho, with a quiet life and a nice house in the city, the youngest archduke finds himself unexpectedly saddled with a friendly but emotionally distant bride who wants to join him at university. Navigating hopes, expectations, studies, friendships, and the danger of resentment, the two maintain a polite partnership while they figure out who the other is, what their developing feelings are, and what the marriage could be. Csethiro POV.
