So wait... Silvia doesn't know about magic, but doesn't the sheriff use a hextech sniper rifle? Or is she just ignorant to the magical components of his weapon?
Where Silvia comes from is a world still recovering from a post-apocalypse. To keep things relatively simple, there is a huge technological divide between her people and what her people would refer to as the technologically advancedĀ āCity Folk.ā
City Folk is a term they used for people from the advanced civilization composed of cities such as:
Viritas, The Emerald City - where vincethewanderer Ā is from
and Spero - where mirathemessenger Ā hailsĀ
The apocalypse happened centuries ago but the damage remains. The Old World has the equivalence of what we know as future-world technology. With so much power, the world was plunged into chaos and destruction. What was left of the advanced civilization are the City Folk.Ā
The moreĀ ānormalā cities would be places like:
Stormhaven - where thesableseraph and foretokenfang are from
Arcen is a fairly large but āregularā city. Arcenās origins ties to people who have managed to flee survive the war ages ago and have since settled in a fertile location rich in minerals. Simply put, Arcen was built from scratch and had to rediscover the technology of the world. Currently, Arcenās technological era is the equivalent of the first Industrial Revolution. It has steadily progressed this way because the City Folk has refused to help any other civilization but their own, with the wounds of betrayal still fresh in their minds and memory.
For this reason alone, there is a stigma associated to the Cities. People are dying of disease and other ailments, when there is technology available. However, others see them as angels, immortal-like being who give selflessly.Ā
This leads to why Silvia doesnāt know about many things in Valoran. She isnāt from this continent and her world doesnāt have such levels of technology. That is why she suffers from future-shock. Silvia has never seen a car and so its speed is unnaturally fast for her. When aĀ āhorseless carriageā was racing towards her, she loosed an arrow into its wheel, which then sent her to the Sheriffās custody. No one in Piltover had any records of her, because she was a complete foreigner.Ā
The Sheriff since then takes it upon himself ( not-by-a-longshot ) to slowly introduce Silvia into their society. Although the idea of a gun is not anything new to her, she hasnāt seen any gun like this, let alone with so much strength. The only reason why she can accept it is because she dismisses these strange things as technology as that of the City Folk.Ā
Truly, she is a young maiden from the dark ages. She lives in a patriarchal society, meaning she is considered to be extremely fortunate to have even received an education.
Long answer to a short question, everything is still new and bizarre to her. She is coping fairly well given her circumstances and upbringings. In summation, the hex tech rifle is merely a gun to her. That is as much as she can comprehend.Ā
