I headcanon Gym Leader Julian would present himself as a ridiculous Edgelord of darkness and power during the battle against MC, telling them he could only gather a team of monstruous pokémon because he’s such a bad person
But in reality, he got them all as outcast or injured babies and raised them with all the love he can’t give to himself
He’d spend a ridiculous amount of time during each of his days to make sure they all get out of their pokéballs as much as they can and group hug them after every training
