welcome to the syzygy-verse // @arcadebluesâ
heâs stumbled upon something he probably wasnât meant to see. once again. how the fuck is this is life? and why the fuck is he always the one to stumble upon things heâs not meant to see? goddamn.
a monster. a fucking monster made of shadow and smoke, with ridged skin and red, protruding eyes. claws. fangs. a prehensile tail. he thinks of malevolent yokai, then. of all the evil spirits in the folktales of old.
and then, there is udyati, looking straight up like one of those evil spirits. wings made of string and thread have sprouted from her back. and she doesnât have two arms, but many. oh, so many. so many arms, so many weapons. itâs almost dizzying. almost, but not quite.
she takes aim. she throws. a barrage of weapons embed themselves into whatever the fuck that monster is. it vanishes, leaving nothing behind but a dying screech and the smell of ashes upon the wind.
the strings and the threads vanish as if theyâd never been there at all.
and thereâs someone else with her, too, julian realizes, when the guy - light brown skin, long hair, tall, lethal - grins a grin made of broken glass and says: âit looks like we are not alone, after all. your boyfriend saw everything. he looks as though he is about to run. but i suppose you are used to it by now, are you not, people who run from you?âÂ
itâs then and only then that she turns around. that she sees him. that she takes him in.
she turns back to whoever this guy is to her and bares her teeth. she actually bares her fucking teeth and spits: âi hate you, sharad. i hate everything you stand for. i donât know why archana is seeing you. i donât know why we were ever friends. i hate you.â that only makes him grin wider. he gives julian a lazy two-fingered salute:Â âthis world is not made for people like you. all this money - all this power - and it will not keep you safe. she will get you killed. though perhaps that is what you are looking for. i know shadows, pretty boy, and you have a lot of those.â
then, the shadows he so deftly speaks of swallow him whole.
âthis is the part where i say that you donât want no part in this.â udyati looks at him - through him - and thereâs something very broken in her eyes as she shakes her head, the exhaustion finally catching up with her. âbut iâm not in the business of making choices for other people. itâs your call whether you want to take the blue pill or the red one, jules.â
