Kind of terrified to ask this, but...How mad would you all be if I decided to cut down the list of godparents you can choose from?
It's been like two years since I've updated this IF, and I've been ruminating on this for a while, but I think 12 godparents was an...overly ambitious choice. I just don't think all twelve gods have much impact on the plot I'm thinking of for Aquarii, outside of the different powers and skills the MC can have.
I'd probably cut down the list to six gods to choose from instead of twelve. The list would instead be Delano, Mahina, Ida, Sirius, Anatole, and Celeste.
The other gods not listed here will still be a part of the plot, but you will no longer be able to choose them as your parent. I picked these six because I feel like they have more impact on the plot in regards to having significant impacts on MC's abilities, having more 'insider' knowledge than the other gods and therefore having more impact on the plot even without MC being their offspring, and some having a more...unique approach to parenting, which I think will have a huge impact on MC's development over the story.
It's not that I think the other gods are pointless; everyone has their role to play, but I think regarding MC themself, these six will have a larger influence on them than the others.
I know this post may be hard to hear for those who picked one of the other six gods to be your godparent, and I'm sorry. This is 100% my fault; I was young and was not fully prepared for the amount of effort that decision would take. But I think it'd make it easier for me to continue Aquarii if I were to have fewer variables to work with. Not to mention, I'm leaving the country in September to attend college in the UK, and I worry I'll have even less time with such a move.
It shouldn't take me too long to implement this change. I only have three chapters out right now, and none of them contains any big interactions between the gods yet. So, I'd just be removing certain parts of the code. Which will also bring my word count down, and I might not need to worry about reaching a million words before chapter ten anymore! Which was honestly a concern cause I really didn't want to deal with a file that big, ahaha.
Let me know your thoughts, and I apologise again. I know this is not the most exciting news.
