Why I don’t like them: I think I’ve alluded to my Unending Hate but never actually gone into why, and I’m home dogsitting for the weekend and thusly don’t have my folder of memes about why he’s the worst ever so now is a good time as any. For the most part this is all based in anime canon; he’s significantly more tolerable in the manga. He’s one of, if not the most, unsympathetic, unlikable, and overrated characters I have ever seen. Not a single one of his actions are justified by his backstory; not to mention he is literally the most powerful man on earth in canon. His treatment of Jonouchi isn’t cool, isn’t funny, isn’t cute. It’s cruel and downright bullying and Jonouchi frankly doesn’t deserve it. Not to mention the fact that he just shrugs off the sins of his corporation because his dad did it, not him, and acts like rebranding fixes the significant amount of lives destroyed within a decade of canon at the hands of Gozaburo. In the anime he goes as far as to blame a victim of Gozaburo’s weaponry for the death of his brother, and he’s framed as in the right for doing so. If he learned his lesson after DK, or Battle City, or one of the three filler arcs that focuses heavily on him, I’d shrug it off and probably find him to be interesting. But he doesn’t. He’s the exact same asshole as he was in episode 1 and it is exhausting to see the anime act like any of the horse shit he has EVER done is justified. Repeating that this mostly goes for the anime; in the manga there is a lot more development in why he is so unhinged mentally, and he’s also portrayed as a lot less justified. I find him interesting in the manga. Also keep in mind I’ve never seen/read Millennium World but I doubt it would change much, because just as TKB and Ryou and Atem and Yugi are completely different people and beings despite being reincarnations, so are him and Set. Anyways I’m done and this is the only time I’m going into why I dislike this shithead in so much detail because I really hate being negative. Any time I get asked about him again I’m just doing my usual vague “he’s an overrated asshole [meme]” and dropping it there. But it felt good to get it out.

What I like about their appearance: Honestly my taste in DM men is garbage to begin with so I swear this isn’t me being petty because I know the guys I like are no better but I genuinely think he’s ugly too. I will admit, however, the few times Kazunori Takahashi has animated him with ruffled hair from wind he does look significantly prettier and more attractive because his bowlcut doesn’t look like a literal penis.

Favourite moment they were in: When Jonouchi out played Malik and he looked stunned at Jou could beat  Ra without a god card, something he could never do. Eat shit.

Least favourite moment: every single other one he is on screen for
