i drew aphrodite, one of my favorite goddesses and i am proud of it :)

Lemme explain 😼

1. Aergia

the goddess and personification of *SLOTH*, laziness, idleness and indolence(fancy word for laziness and avoiding activity).

Sloth is ES’ corrupted value/sin, and she actively utilizes it to convince Hollyberry to be indolent and rest away/give up burdens.

2. Hedone

- is the goddess of Pleasure and Hedonism(family of philosophies that prioritize pleasure and happiness).

If you think for a moment, ES’ desire to keep her denizens within the Garden of Delights (possibly implying that it would bring them great pleasure and relaxation) and can easily match up to this pursuit of pleasure or happiness in paradise.

Not to mention she is the goddess of Delight and Enjoyment, 2 other things Eternal sugar cookie wanted her people to experience in the garden (hence the name as well).

Now in the wiki itself it does explain her connection to Hedonism! So it is there and therefore gives her a connection to Hedone via values, Although there is a fork in the road in terms of what Greek Society believed was a stopping point and where ES kept going.

3. Elysium and the Lotus Eaters

While these may not be goddesses but rather a mythical plane of afterlife + a mythical group of people, they take up 2 sub-sections of her wiki and are not often recognized! The wiki explains them well and I want to add on.

When the wiki states Elysium is “ reserved for the souls of the Virtuous and Heroic” this usually includes Royalty, the innocent/pure, and on occasion the gods to rescue lovers from death. (Ariadne, Hyacinthus, Odysseus, children/babies etc)

How does this factor of Elysium connect to ES and the G.O.D?:

Hollyberry checks off a few of those boxes. She’s a heroic queen with a virtue/light and can 100% have her own parallels to Athena, Dionysus, and Odysseus (2 gods and a Hero).

As stated in the Wiki and In myth Lotus eaters had these fruits that made you forget everything and want to stay with them forever if you chowed down on even just one. ES does something similar, but without fruit but rather semi-unintentional manipulation and persuasion + a Lyre. (Refer to pt. 5)

4. Peitho, lady of Persuasion

Through connection to Love and Aphrodite, ES’ actions can be linked to Peitho, goddess of persuasion.

With (possible) genuine love and care, she persuades (semi-forcefully via monsters) cookies to stay when the effects of her“Lotus Fruits”wear off.

5. Harmonia and Apollo via Lyres, Domains + Lotus Fruit (refers back to point 3)

As stated in the Wiki, ES uses lyres (Apollo) as a method of hypnotizing and a parallel to the effects of a Lotus Fruits.

Harmonia is the goddess of Harmony and also daughter of Aphrodite, furthering the parallels between love/peace gods and Eternal Sugar.

Eris is goddess of Discord which can be a synonym to crazy shenanigans and a cause for tough situations (Judgement of Paris). Harmonia and Eris being opposites can be seen as a parallel to the argument Scene of episode 10 between ES and Fem Smilk.

6. Calypso

In the Odyssey, Odysseus is trapped on the nymph-goddess Calypso’s island for 7 years and is manipulated for just as long bc of her desire for him. (This refers back to the whole Lotus Eaters point/ pt. 3/5) In addition, in episode 9 or 10 of BY she says this:

That showed her actively trying to push HB into loving her and only her. She also expressed a deep love and obsession a lot for Hollyberry regardless if she reciprocated it all or not, through attempted persuasion and comments made elsewhere. (Refer back to pt. 5)

7. Circe

Before Calypso, Scylla, and much more, Odysseus encounters the grand Goddess-witch Circe. She can transmutate men into animals (ody’s crew becoming pigs) and also keeps him there for 1 year.

This is a parallel of her comment abt keeping some cookies in Jam. A couple Decors in the eternal sugar update group describe this in more detail (I cannot find those pictures)

8. Aphrodite!

This one’s preettyyyy obvious haha.

- Both are the mother/motherly figure of another love god (Eros and Pavlova cookie, who by default are parallels of eachother. Same goes for Psyche and Sugarfly.)

- they also both seem to preside/have power over Love/Beauty too. This can be seen through both’s roles in the myth of Eros and Psyche/sub-story of Pavlova & Sugarfly. This in particular can be seen as both are like wedges between the two trying to keep them apart. In the myth as well, Aphrodite is quite protective of Eros, as ES is with Pavlova to keep him safe within the garden.

- Aphrodite’s wedge was the trials of Psyche (sorting grain, Golden Fleece, Styxian riverwater, beauty from Persephone) vs ES’ being transforming Pavlova into a child for quite some time (his true form is that of a a young adult) and suppression their contact as well.

9. Last but not least…. The Graces!!!

To sum it up, they value and represent Beauty, Grace, and Joyful moods. Euphrosyne particularly presides over happiness and enthusiasm. In other points, ES is explained & known to (also obviously, via her Virtue) pursue happiness.
