Artists

The form will be asking for a portfolio link and your three best pieces: they must include a colored background and at least one of them should have more than one character, preferably one that shows them interacting. Kimetsu no Yaiba related works are preferred but not required. We’ll mainly be looking at composition and character interaction. No wips, NSFW, sketches, or unfinished pieces for the three samples. If you’re applying as a merch artist your portfolio must be different from the one you submit as an artist.

Merch Artists

The form will be asking for a portfolio link and your three best pieces: they can both be merch that you have produced or regular pieces. Colored backgrounds are preferred but not required. At least one of the samples should have more than one character, preferably one that shows them interacting. Kimetsu no Yaiba  related works are preferred but not required. We’ll mainly be looking at composition and character interaction. No wips, NSFW, sketches, or unfinished pieces for the three samples. If you’re applying as an artist your portfolio must be different from the one you submit as a merch artist.

Writers

The form will be asking for a portfolio link and your three best fics. FF.net, AO3 and Google Docs links are fine. We ask for at least one completed fic that can be of any length, while the other samples should be between 1.5 k and 2k and they can be completed works or excerpts. You MUST include at least one Kimetsu no Yaiba related work. We’ll be looking at characterization, grammar, and story flow. No drabbles, NSFW, or unfinished works for the three samples.

Hello everyone! We’re sure you’re just as excited as we are for the application process so we’ve gone ahead and discussed exactly what we are expecting and would like to see with your applications!

General Notes:

Please keep all submissions SFW. 

Please tag potential triggers for your pieces (there will be a designated spot on the application to do so).

A portfolio link (Google Drive and AO3 are preferred but all portfolio links are acceptable as long as we can easily access them)

Given fanwork is not required in your portfolio or your submitted pieces.

Writer Requirements:

Three (3) pieces that are 2-3k words each. Going 200-300 words over 3k is fine, but please try not to go too much over the limit.

Excerpts from larger pieces are okay as long as the submitted excerpt is 2-3k words.

Artist Requirements:

Three (3) pieces that are completed.

At least one (1) piece with a background

At least one (1) piece with full color.

Traditional art is acceptable as long as the art is clear to see (e.g. used a scanner)

Merch artists will not be required to provide a piece with a background.

Please thoroughly read through our requirements so you are fully prepared for our contributor applications! Applying these points to your applications will surely increase your chances of getting accepted (as well as making the reviewing process easier for the mods): 

Requirements for all contributors:

A discord account. All contributors will be sent a link to our discord which is where most, if not all announcements will be shared with our contributors.

A portfolio with sample works. All contributors will need to provide a portfolio of some sorts whether it be a website, google drive, a tag on tumblr, a place where your collections will be. Be sure to isolate your works so we are not having to determine what is yours and what is not (ie. a tumblr with no tag)

Artist Requirements:

3 samples of your best works.

Provide at least one piece with a completed background. Backgrounds mustn’t only consist of flat colors and shapes. They should depict objects and other entities (foliage, buildings, landscapes, room interiors, etc).

It is preferred that your portfolio/samples demonstrate a variety of poses, angles and expressions with a solid understanding of colors and composition.

Your portfolio is a collection of handpicked artworks that you believe are best suited to present. Make sure the quality of artworks you will present is something you are willing to do for a zine! 

At least one sample should include a BNHA character. A piece featuring Kirishima is preferred, but not required.

Provide at least one piece with characterization, bnha or not

If your work is heavily stylized, please provide one piece with proper anatomy.

Writer Requirements:

3 samples of your best works, 2000 words or under per sample. If you write mostly chapter stories, you may submit a chapter of one of your works as one of your samples, however it still must be under or around 2,000 words. I

At least one sample should include a BNHA character. A piece featuring Kirishima is preferred, but not required.

Provide at least one piece with characterization, bnha or not.

Submit links to your works rather than pasting work itself in the text box. The applications strip it of spacing and make it difficult to read.

Merch Artist Requirements:

At least one sample of your art in merchandise (ie. stickers, charms, button, etc)

Contributor applications for artists, writers, and merch artists open on August 12th and close on September 12th. All applicants will be required to provide three samples of their work, as well as a portfolio. Each applicant must provide at least one sample that somehow depicts the LGBT+ community.

No explicit NSFW samples will be allowed, however, it will not affect your application if you have NSFW pieces on your portfolio. Just make sure to notify us in the application.

Requirements for artists-

At least one sample must be fully colored

At least one sample must have a background

Requirements for writers-

Each sample should not exceed 3,000 words (not including a title)

At least one sample must have a minimum of 1,000 words (not including a title)

Requirements for merch artists-

At least one sample must be fully colored

We are looking for 15-25 artists, 4-7 writers, and 3-5 merch artists.

For artists, we will be making decisions based on:

Style

Proportions and anatomy

Backgrounds

Usage of colors and shading

Overall creativity

We also require that at least one piece show Keith and at least one piece show Lance, and that you have a background with some degree of detail in one of your submissions. Please don’t submit anything NSFW, or your application will not be considered.
