Just a little Vent Post about Milton coming our way.
#HurricaneMilton will probably hit the Apopka area where I now live as either a Cat 2 or a Cat 3 depending on eye size, wingspan, and other factors. Either way since I now live in a Mobile Home ((that i just rented earlier last week so i wouldnt be homeless)) I now have to leave everything behind and shelter safely somewhere else.
The moment they announced Miltons fast formation tendencies I got a feeling of Impending Doom. I worry for the Homeless, for the Elderly, and for those without Transportation.
I had to drive two hours towards WinterGarden FL to pick up some renovation supplies and the entire HWY I-4 going Northbound was like a Mass Exodus. Where I live all I see are homes with no cars outside anymore. Its a ghost town. People who are normally never afraid of these storms this far inland are petrified.
There is no gas. There is no water in stores. There are first responders and linemen/women ready to jump into action. Ontop of this, apl the hotels in the area have been booked by Helene victims which is of course Okay. It just makes it harder to evacuate for those of us who were not hit by Helene.
The ground is soaked. Nowhere for water to go even in the hills where I live. Please do not badger those who are inland who cannot leave or wont leave. I dont think any Florida Resident honestly can put focus on the hypothetical of maybe getting up to Alabama or Georgia. The roads are too full. Theres nowhere to go unless you have the $ to do so. Please donate to relief agencies and to funds for the West Coast.
If you cannot donate ((which is fine, i cant either)) then do your best to keep us in your mind and prayers and thoughts. Share these stories. Share them even if you are far away. The government in FL does not care, the development companies do not care, please please please if you live in FL prepare accordingly!
