My Apollo altar in all its glory ☀️

Two shelves with all the offerings and gifts and statues, and the concrete bust on its own dedicated mini altar. The bust is extremely heavy and I didn't want to risk it falling, thus the weird placement haha.

Most of the art is by @auroradiation , who does some of my fave contemporary Apollo art ☀️ Crow doll was made by me, and most of the rest is thrifted/discovered/gifted from many places and people. My Dionysus and Hermes altars are mixed in, Hermes is on the other walls edge, Dionysus is in the corner (blended in with Apollo).

What a card to pull today! I seem to be saying that a lot lately, but this one definitely deserves that intro.

The upright 8 of Swords represents feeling trapped and that you have given up your agency towards something which allows you to passively move through life and make your lot in life worse because of it.

I do sort of feel this entrapment, especially when it comes to my job. I've talked about it multiple times about how much I hate it and maybe this card is pushing me to be more active in my job search. I ideally want to wait until after the holidays before I change jobs because I have a lot planned for this time of year and most jobs want you to have an insane amount of flexibility when you first start, especially if you're working any kind of customer service/retail position. So while I do feel trapped and sort of passive in my job at the moment, I know that, come the new year, I will be actively looking for a new job and being much more aggressive about sending out applications.

I've also talked about how the Fates have weaved my tapestry for me and that God has a plan weaved into that tapestry. That doesn't mean I need to allow myself to passively flow through life. I need to take control in my own way. Sure, my decisions might be known before I make them, but they are still my decisions. I have to be firm in them. I am the one who gets to decide where I want to work. I am the one who gets to decide when they go back to school. I am the one who has to make the choice of living at home or moving out. These are my choices and I need to be firm in them. God has a plan for me and the Fates know my choices, but it's ultimately up to me. God didn't give me freewill just to let me lie back and take it. I'm meant to experience life in all of its messiness and make mistakes and get right back up again afterwards.

When I pulled the upright 8 of Swords, I felt sad and annoyed that this was what Lord Apollon was trying to communicate to me. Now, after I've sat and processed these feelings, I'm feeling better. Cards with negative meanings shouldn't fill you with despair. It should help point you in the right direction and help you avoid negative things. So I thank Lord Apollon for reminding me that I'm the one in the driver's seat and I'm the one who has to live my life.
