I actually really hated enemies to lovers for a long time bc most of my exposure was from published romance fiction and usually it amounted to this:

Guy is absolute asshole to Love Interest

Love Interest begins to fall for said asshole despite him continuing to be an asshole and treat them like absolute garbage

They live happily ever after

And it would annoy the utter PISS out of me.

But now that I’ve seen things from the fandom side, I have come to appreciate the dynamic a lot more, and especially with sebard as one of my fave ships (and Sebataker), it’s something I definitely will explore more going forward.

As for the opposite????? *deep inhale*

I guess you could consider WDH to be a bit of a lovers to enemies if you look at Lau/Sebastian??

But as much fun as I have with them in that story idk if it’s something I could set out to do as such…. I love torturing my characters but ultimately I like people to be happy in the end…. So yeah I suspect when you see this trope it’s usually bc there was a very unhealthy relationship that the Mc became aware of and escaped, even if it continues to haunt him (like in WDH and the Promise series…. Also, arguably perhaps CT as well).

Not every argument is worth your energy. Sometimes, no matter how clearly you express yourself, the other person isn’t listening to understand—they’re listening to react.

And antis want to be given a reason to lash out and clutch their pearls. To feign outrage.

They’re stuck in their own perspective, unwilling to consider another viewpoint, and engaging with them only drains you.

There’s a difference between a healthy discussion and a pointless debate.

A conversation with someone who is open-minded, who values growth and understanding, can be enlightening—even if you don’t agree. But trying to reason with someone who refuses to see beyond their own beliefs? That’s like talking to a wall. No matter how much logic or truth you present, they will twist, deflect, or dismiss your words, not because you’re wrong, but because they’re unwilling to see another side.

They are dedicated to purposefully misunderstanding you.

And maturity isn’t about who wins an argument—it’s about knowing when an argument isn’t worth having. It’s realizing that your peace is more valuable than proving a point to someone who has already decided they won’t change their mind. Not every battle needs to be fought. Not every person deserves your explanation.

You do not owe anyone your medical history, your personal traumas, reasons you have for shipping what you love, or explanation for any harmless kink you have. You owe them nothing. Ignore their demands to put you under an interrogation spotlight.

Learn to differentiate fiction from reality. Learn that bullying people over disgust and pretending it's 'moral righteous anger' is wrong.

Unlearn your moral grandstanding and virtue signaling bullshit. It will only serve to help indoctrinate you to the BITE model anti-cult. False Morality points are useless in real life.
