The Secrets You Find Out when You Move in with your Boyfriend
This fic is in the format of Any Player (A/P). You can pick and put your chosen player into this fic. Itโs also from your point of view.
I hope you like it, and I would like to know who is the player that you chose.
Your thing with A/P is pretty new. You like him a lot and it looks promising. But it's still from time to time seems unreal. You still catch yourself saying "Holy shit! I'm dating A/P. I'm A/P's girlfriend". But then you relax and enjoy the moment, enjoy the ride.
Dating a hockey player, a professional hockey player, is difficult of course. Especially at the beginning when you still need to get used to the fact that he is absent a lot of the time. But it's worth it, it's so worth it when he comes back and he comes to see you. Plus, you quickly understood that one of your favorite things with dating A/P is to find out that he's a real person, and he have quirks and passions like any other person. And the fact that he trusts you enough to show you those sides of his makes you to love him so much.
A year into the relationship and you're still happy. The thing between the two of you has gotten pretty serious, and you couldn't be happier, so of course when he asked you to move in with him you agreed. Now you are in the middle of packing your things and moving them into his house. You were pleased to find out that he was ready for it, and actually cleared some drawers and closet space to your things. ย
But one thing that the moving process didn't prepare you for is to find all those little things that he owned that in a million years you wouldn't have guessed he had. One afternoon you entered one of his guest bedrooms to find out if you could take use of the closet. When you opened the closet door you found out that there were two giant folders lying there. You didn't want to pry, but your curiosity won that battle.
Two hours later and you still read what the folders contained. To your utter joy you found out that they were filler papers filled with stories. Stories that you talented hockey player of a boyfriend wrote. They were stories that were placed in the worlds of some of his favorite TV shows and movies. You just find out that your boyfriend writes fanfiction. Good fanfiction in your humble opinion.
At one point through the open door you heard A/P yell "Y/N, you have been there forever. What are you doing?"
Before you could do anything he was standing at the foot of the door. He looked at you, at the open folders and then back at you. You wanted the ground to swallow you. By the look of his face that was something he wanted to keep a secret, even from you. He took hesitate strides to you, but he stopped dead on his track a safe distance from the bad.
"Where did you find those folders?" he asked with an unreadable expression on his face.
You swallowed around your closing throat and answered him "They were at the closet. And I wanted to find out what was in them. And when I read one story I just couldn't stop. So I just spend the last few hours reading your stories".
You waited to see how he would react. His cheeks became redder by the minute. And he avoided your eye contact. He looked defensive when he said "It's stupid. It's just something that I do from time to time".
It was obvious that he wanted you to forget about it. But he's your boyfriend. You wanted to show him how much you support him. Besides, there could've been a lot worse things to find out that your boyfriend keeps behind your back.
"A/P, you know that there nothing to be ashamed of it. You know that right?! The reason that I read those for the last few hours is because they're good. You're a good writer."
His face just lit up from you last sentence. Breathlessly he asked "Did you like them? You think those are good stories?" You could see the passion in his eyes. You can see how important it is to him.
"Yeah, you write well. Your characters are interesting. Your plot line is good. There is a specific flow to your stories, that I can't exactly pin point, but they take your stories to this level. And you know me, I like reading a lot. I read some good shit and some bad shit. Your material I would've read if I come across with it on the internet."
As you kept talking you saw his smile spread wider and wider. It was a good look on him. And you didn't lie there. He was good.
"Did you ever post any of them online?"
With a confused face he asked you "What do you mean?"
"There are websites where people can publish their stories". ย
You waited patiently to his response. Because you really think that he'll get positive feedback for his stories.
"But they're not original stories."
On an instinct you giggled a bit. Does he really think that you didn't realize that those stories sat in the worlds of famous movies such as Star Wars?! There's a big deference between not being a fan and not realizing when a story is sat in that world.
"No shit Sherlock! Of course I know that this is fan made stories and not completely original. But fanfiction is a thing. You know it. Clearly you enjoy it. So why not posting it to the internet? Your stories are good. I'm sure you'll get positive feedback."
"Why would I upload it to the internet? The last thing that I need is to my teammates, or worse opposite players, to know that I write fanfiction like a complete dork. The chirping would never end".
"Okay for the record, for anyone who knows you for an extended period of time the fact that you're a dork in no mystery. Plus, I know that you don't need your head much for your career but gee you're dumbโฆ"
You looked him with your most unimpressed look while you continued with your original sentence.
"Any way, as I was saying you don't have to reveal yourself you moron. You just need to open an account in one of the thousands of websites that dedicated to fandoms and fanfiction. And of course choose a username that you'll feel comfortable with and fully in incognito mode or whatever".
You saw your boyfriend contemplating your words. So in a rush you said "Think about it. It's your stories and if you don't want to post them it's fine. But I think that you'll enjoy it as well if you'll post them online".
When you were done you just left the room. You knew that he needed space and time to truly evaluate what you said and how he thinks about it.
A week later your boyfriend was on a road trip with his team. You used it in your favor and exploit the empty house. You moved the last of your things, find place to all your stuff and all of his, cleaned the house as well. At the end of the night the house was officially yours, officially belongs to you and A/P equally. You were proud but totally void of energy. At 9 you were already in bad.
About an hour later a phone call woke you up. You were disoriented at first and hoped that whoever trying to reach you will get the massage. But of course the rings didn't stop. Reluctantly you answered the phone. You recognized the voice as your boyfriend but you couldn't make out the words. He just rambled too fast to your sleep filled head.
"Wow, slow down, I can't understand what you're saying".
You heard him take a deep bread and start over, much slower this time.
"I was calling to say thank you".
You were confused and definitely too sleepy for this. But you could practically hear him vibrate with excitement. So you went along. "What do you want to thank me for?"
"For the suggestion of posting my stories. I decided to give it a shot. I typed a few of my stories, each from a different fandom, and I just uploaded them to one of those websites. It was just before the start of the road trip and so far I've been getting steadily responses, positive responses. People actually like my stories."
You listened how midway through his speech he became a little boy who's dying out of excitement. It was one of your favorite things about him. Things he likes have a special place in his heart. You could always see the appreciation to it in his voice, eyes and excessive hand gestures. And right now you soaked it up.
"If I wouldn't know better I would've said that you just now admitted that you girlfriend is a lot smarter than you".
You could hear his smirk when he answered not a second later. "I don't know about that. She had a good idea, but I'm the one who wrote the stories. So who's really is the smart one in the relationship?"
You couldn't give him the last word, so you just scoffed and said "Please, if it weren't for me your stories would've been kept in those dusty folders."
You heard him laugh as he said goodbye. You had a smile on your face because you obviously won this little banter. You put your phone on the night stand and adjust your pillows. The thought of: "Boys are so dumb" crossed your mind. And then you were asleep, with a warm feeling in your heart.
